Keeler looks like he has the natural ability to reach the heights of TDK, and even go past him.

He just needs to improve his core strength and aerobic ability. Hopefully that game, that win, flicks a switch for him and he takes his training to a new level.
A lot of ifs buts and maybes in all of that.

You don’t stop recruiting because Keeler flashed in certain moments.

Marshall is 30 this year. There is room for all of them if Keeler is that good.

But if Keeler doesn’t make it. It’s a very short time left with Row and nothing else close to him at the club.

Now the fun of watching the vfl.

Let’s go Trav and boxman.

Trav 25 8 tackles and 8+ clearances pls
He will know there is a spot in the side next week if he plays well.

Would almost be a straight swap. Travaglia in stocker out.

It would be standard if Danger gets off elbowing Ronnie's face but Higgins lays a tackle and goes for weeks
Round 2 last year. Ripping win…

And then the AFL punctures all 4 wheels post match.

Almost smell a repeat.

Agree totally with this.

Keeler could barely run from midway through the 3 and got totally rinsed but tried and tried and took the final match killing mark. Shows he has heart and will which is 80% of being a footballer....

However, while he has football skills, your post is accurate. We don't stop recruiting because a bloke shows flashes. Heath showed a bit and is now behind Dodson, Keeler and Marshall. We get TDK, Heath is gone and Keeler is third ruck with Dodson.

You keep performing or you are out. He has shown he can will himself, so he is halfway to being an AFL player.

I would love to see a forward line of the following line up one night this year:

HFF Henry King Collard

FF Higgins Owens Keeler

King getting up the ground and marking on the wing. Owens playing a Gehrig type lead, crash and bash style deep forward role. Keeler chopping out in the ruck and floating into contests. And the smalls providing pressure, goal sense, and skill. Would be a very fun set up
Sharman stiff

It's happened before, it could very easily happen again
Feckin' Dangerfield... he's treated like a unicorn bred with a phoenix, raised by the Sphinx, and then offered Pegasus for kicks.
Pure bollocks in every way. All of it.

Totally agree TDK would give us the best ruck/forward tandem in the competition. Gringo doesnt rate Marshall as a forward, but play him and TDK alongside King in the forward line and dominating the ruck will go a long way to winning games. Plus TDK is 4 years younger than Rowan so would give us some longevity.

I also think landing TDK would go a huge way to attracting a player like LDU or other elite mids.

Hopefully if it is going to occur the club get a few games into Max Heath before seasons end to grow his trade value.

Marshall has never been good camping. He needs to be on the move. He could definitely drift forward and play the Kosi spiller target inside deep 50. Halve the contest, mark or drop the ball out the back to the smalls.

To me the midfield has potential to be a huge strength by the end of the year. Small forwards, tall backs are probably a massive need. Hammer and Collard might even help there but ideally we find another small pressure forward in the Butler mould. We should know a lot more about the list by the end of 2025.

If Phillipou is a best 22 inside mid and from Garcia, Boxshall, Henry, Trav, Windhager or Wilson we look like we've found a natural third in development, the midfield looks a lot less vulnerable. Especially with Jones, Clark and Dow as quality depth back ups.

If Phillipou develops like he was last year we'd almost need to send Steele out and keep Macrae in there if we pick up LDU. Can really only play 3 true full-time inside mids with some dual position rotations and bench.

Right now tall backs look thin and Collard is the only real option when Butler goes down. Specialist small forwards are crucial in model footy and like Carlton, we are very thin there.

Dodson probably 3 years off but looks like he'll be a likely type too.

Keeler struggled a bit but you could tell he was super nervous and I reckon that played out with his cramping as well.

He got physically bullied at times, just like Phillipou did in the 2023 final. Hopefully that ignites a flame underneath him and he works his arse off getting the physical strength needed to play the game at the top level.
Need to sign him up to the Riley Thilthorpe programme 😃👍🏻

Higgins looks alright. No secondary motion. Just took him to ground. Free kick but not a suspension.
I'm pretty sure there were suspensions last year for ones that looked similar to Higgins?

It's ridiculous and it'll change the game for the worse, and they're not applying it consistently, but that seems to be the direction they're headed

Last week we had too many lay down sally passengers, tonight everyone dipped an oar into the water to power the boat forward.

Our usual reliable players stepped up for us like Marshall, Sinclair, NWM, Steele and Wilkie and now we can add Macrae to them.

Good to see some other players step up tonight like Windhager, Owens, Higgins, Caminiti and that bald bloke Jones went alright.
A better team balance tonight. Boyd and Cordy out of the team made it more mobile. Ari and Hastie might make great long term players long term, but they leak too many possessions to the opposition defensively. I’m confident those two will eventually come on and make the grade.

Even handing the kick over was actually really smart. Some players would be thinking of their own stat sheet. He's given the ball to a senior player when it was crucial to hold on to the ball. A few kids stood up under extreme pressure and will have gained finals like pressure experience. Can't buy that stuff.

Fine him for being wreckless/careless.

But there is no impact. O’Sullivan had a big last quarter and nearly was a big reason they got over the line.
