Just heard Scott repeatedly praise us for our kicking skills. He even used the term "Harlem Globetrotters" in reference to our ball movement early on. I nearly fell out of my chair. I had to double check the scores to make sure I didn't dream the result.
And we didn’t even have our best kicker…

I say it every year but a win against the Cats is top of the tree on my wish list. It's long surpassed a win against the Pies and that's saying something from a supporter that goes back as long as me. Stoked at the win. Very unexpected with at least half a dozen best 22 missing.

Everyone should flood Cornes and Purple's social media accounts giving them sh.it. They've both done nothing but bag us out since pre season. Purple frequently labels us as a terrible team and last week said there were "many, many things wrong with the club". Dickhead.

Cornes is no better. Both of them hate us. What makes it even better is that Purple sucks up to the Cats every week. He's openly stated that he tips them every week and tipped them to be premiers this year. The win tonight makes it all the more glorious for me.

Go Saints. Bloody ripper win!
Cornes is a bloke who lives on the uncomfortable truth - troll line, but he is he'll of a lot better that that bitter spiteful Purple dickhead, his blood is pure vinegar and knows nothing about football.

I'd rather listen to Cornes every day for a week than Barrett for an hour.

It ended up being a stressful last quarter, you could tell the umpires were favouring Geelong to try and make it a close finish.

We didn't help ourselves though by missing easy set shots, apart from Sharman I don't trust any of our forwards to kick one.

Wow, basically every player was significantly better than last week and there were no passengers. We really missed Owens and Stocker last week, even if Stocker's stats don't look very impressive today.
Caminiti as a defender :whitecheck: Most marks and disposals in his career so far. Neale only had 5 disposals.

Fox have really scraped the bottom of the barrel by employing Cameron Mooney. He has absolutely no idea. Why is anyone talking about a practice match in round 2?

Went with my 7 year old nephew - Cats supporter.....

He was very upset with Nas's toe-poke reversal, and teared up at the final siren.

SUCK IT UP PRINCESS, YOU'RE 7 AND YOU HAVE BARELY SEEN YOU TEAM LOSE IN YOUR LIFETIME. GO CRY TO YOUR MUM ABOUT MEAN UNCLE CHRIS, THEN COME BACK TO ME IN 60 F'ING YEARS IF YOUR TEAM IS STILL SHIT.

Anyway, had a great night, felt like the early RL days when we owned the Dome on a Saturday night....

Have I missed a trick with holding the ball? Some absolute Barry Crockers tonight. Not to mention the Neale dropped mark that got paid and the Cameron "holding" free against Hill.

What a brilliant win, well done to Lyon and the club.

The last few minutes were heart stoppers but some of the individual efforts were huge. The senior players stepped up and turned things around Marshall, McRae, Jones, Higgins, Sinclair, Wood, Stocker (inj) were brilliant. But the player to have the most impact forward only had 10 possessions Mitch Owens take a bow. He is an absolute bull for a young man, he basically took on the entire Geelong defence and man handled them.

Windhager was very good, again he plays his best footy when tagging, hopefully the club continue with that role for him.
Caminiti showed exactly what I thought he might down back. He was huge at times particularly in the 2nd half when we were under the pump. Imagine how much improvement there is in him, particularly if he had of trained in defence over the preseason.
Steele was tagged and has to find a way to work through it, I would love to see him get angry and throw his weight around occasionally.
Clark was doing some good things before getting injured again.
Keeler and Collard will be better for the experience, both displayed they have a fair bit of work to do particularly strength wise. There is something to work with though if they apply themselves. Collard to his credit attacked his opponents and pressured when he could.

We looked absolutely spent for the last part of the game, obviously a high pressure game saps a lot of energy. Hopefully we can back that up and use that as our bench mark for the year, bringing that consistently will be our challenge for the season.

Looking forward to see how the others go in the VFL, there will be a couple of spots to fill for next week.

PS I hope Max King watched and saw the influence Owens had on the game just through sheer effort and willing himself to contests.

Any danger the umpiring department can watch some vision of the treatment that Mitch Owens cops? Held, scragged, blocked at every contest and never a free.

Cameron holds Hill then gets a free for the jumper coming a cm away from the body when he doesn't out mark the smaller player. Even Cameron looked sheepish at getting the free.

How good was that!
Macrae has sherrin magnets in his hands
Owens and Stocker makes the team a lot tougher. Owens set the tone for the team early.
Marshall rucking is so important
Keeler didn’t have a big night but the Geelong defenders were spending a lot of their focus on him.
This is the windhager we need. Incredible game shutting down Holmes while also being damaging.

Phewwwww! That was torture the last 20 mins or so! It just felt inevitable - they were swarming, we were only focused on defending. But the first three qtrs were fabulous. Seniors stood up and great to see their response. Windy, Owens and Wilson’s first half all really promising. And a host of kids to watch tomorrow. Great to get back into the season.

Free kicks 17 to 14 in Geelong's favour when we were the best team all night is disgraceful, if we had lost I would be ropeable.

How often have we won a free kick count at Kardinia Park? It's usually twice as many free kicks in their favour if we are lucky.

Not that I'm complaining that much, our best wins are when we beat both the opposition and the umpires.

Moony was so casual, and he tries to lead the interview, its like watching 60 minites in the U.S., he looked like he had been on the sauce!

Great to get on the winners list.
Is it time people gave Stocks his dues? Yes
Is Hammer a defender? Yes
Do Keels and Lance play next week? Yes

Congrats to Hunter for making it to 100 games, may he have many sons.

Congrats to Jones for shutting a few mouths on BF.

Enjoy the win everyone. It's a bloody tough run to the bye.

I think it just proves that windy needs to be in the middle, and for the time being, he needs an assignment. Its not a tag, its a focal point. He's just that guy right now, he's young and the clarity of a player to run with clears the mind!

Disgusting but standard unfortunately

Senior players stood up like we needed them to. Sinclair, Marshall, Steele, Wilkie, Wood, Higgins, Macrae, Jones all massive. Plenty to learn but awesome we could do it in a win.
Nasiah looked like the superstar he is after some poor footy last week. Caminiti back worth persisting with, good to have Owens back in as well. Windhager looks ready to break out.
Lacked composure and our midfield got killed late but we will be better for it

Im just grateful the coaching staff finally pulled the trigger on playing Caminiti in defence

Looked so much more comfortable down there. No need for complicated leading patterns, no need to worry about his surroundings as much. Just attack the ball both in the air and at ground level. A couple of crucial intercept marks in the final term - didn't take one before then so that'll boost his confidence massively and expect to see those on a more consistent basis throughout games

Ball use was also fine. Had one bad turnover after the Irish mark but otherwise hit his targets or bombed it down the line

Keeler did enough today to convince me that we don't need Caminiti in the fwd line anymore. King, Sharman, Owens, Keeler to take us forward in that department with Wood also able to fill in in crisis

Still a long way to go for the finished product, but a brilliant start to his development in this role. I think he's found his home
