Autopsy Saints roll the Cats.

I thought Stocker looked really engaged and his run down tackle was inspirational but doesn't look irreplaceable. Clark was a bit meh to me. Boxshall or Garcia should be able to take that spot. Perhaps Carroll could fill the accountable small back role if he plays well?
We lacked strength around the packs against the Crows, and Stocker gave us that last night, and when he went off, the Cats found it a bit easier at stoppages. Clark ordinary I thought for the time he was on, maybe still carrying something.

I see Liam O'Connell as a Jason Blake type player. A solid role player.

Player as a lockdown defender on their dangerous small forwards didn’t he?

Thought he was very good on his role whilst not having a huge amount of the ball. Happy to sink the games in. There is something here.

Marshall showed again past night he is an absolute jet as a RUCK only. Just about the best in the comp.

We don't need TDK. Will only ruin the next 3 years of one of our only elite players. The Dees have proven 2 gun rucks doesn't work.

Back Dodson in as long term replacement. Throw 2.2m+ at LDU. If he doesn't accept then come up with plan B,C,D. Frontload some contracts whatever we need to do to have a crack at free agency again the next 2 years.

Even if TDK is a gun, Marshall is better! We need him to play 90% gametime in the ruck.
And Gringo answers why we should be going after TDK.

I know we are all warm and fuzzy and the recruitment and development looks good after a win like that.

But Keeler simultaneously got smashed in that 10 minute period he had to ruck in the third that let the Cats back in. Same again mid way through the last.

Yes. First game. Yes he was cooked and it was a big ask.

But stick TDK into the ruck in those moments and you maintain ascendency.

If we never get an A Grade midfield. Having 2 genuine A grade rucks changes the dynamic back in our favour.
The only think about TDK is that he's able to play as a proper forward unlike Marshall. Could extend his career not smashing him.

I thought Stocker was a huge reason we were so strong early.

He was very good and that tackle was inspirational. Part of the reason the cats got back into it. He makes us better

The back 6 looked absolutely overwhelmed against the Crows. I think Hammer made a huge difference. Cordy got caught so many time by lack of closing speed. Having another mature instructional type with Stocker was a big part of that imoprovement. He's very vocal and seems to be a bit of a backline general.

Byres was unlucky that he wasn't given a free for holding but he should have killed that ball. Stocker would have had the strength to hold that up or rush it.

Keeler looks like he has the natural ability to reach the heights of TDK, and even go past him.

He just needs to improve his core strength and aerobic ability. Hopefully that game, that win, flicks a switch for him and he takes his training to a new level.

Totally agree TDK would give us the best ruck/forward tandem in the competition. Gringo doesnt rate Marshall as a forward, but play him and TDK alongside King in the forward line and dominating the ruck will go a long way to winning games. Plus TDK is 4 years younger than Rowan so would give us some longevity.

I also think landing TDK would go a huge way to attracting a player like LDU or other elite mids.

Hopefully if it is going to occur the club get a few games into Max Heath before seasons end to grow his trade value.

The thing with the irish guys is their ceiling is so hard to establish. Liam has only played like 18 Aussie rules games since he was a child. Already he’s as tough as anyone in the team and is super athletic even. At pro level. Imagine after another 2-3 years at the level. Could be a Mason wood type

Dougie probably won’t play next week especially if Sharmy is back and he may be carrying a bit of a niggle.
Never mind that, this game shows him why it’s taken so long to debut, he was too easily pushed off the ball especially in the ruck. He’ll stay as backup while he works on a bit more beef in the gym.
Fees him whatever they’re feeding Ro.
