Long has had enough chances. If Owies isn't out this week it's got to be him.

Carrying too many of the same 6 touch spuddy small forwards out there for one team. They all flip a coin to find out who's going to be the least effective this week.

Add another midfielder, an actual pure midfielder like Gross or Hall, and then punt Kelly (because we know he isn't going to get dropped) onto the forward flank.

Cole for Allan. You know you are in trouble when Cole starts getting it (opposition is so dominant that his opponent is cheating at a very high level).

Gross for hewett. Unfortunately. Should be placed in same category as long, coming back from 12 months off footy.

Long for hall. Simply ineffective coming back from knee.

Brock for Gov.

That’s probably as many changes as one came make given potential 100+ point losses over next two games (fully expect us to get Carlton back on winning track again).
Dropping hewett is just crazy talk. How about dropping one of the shit senior players?

Noah Longer does he keep his spot. Needs to go back and get some touch.
Hall has to come straight back in.
Gov looks set for a stint on the sidelines so time for Brock or Shanahan to debut.
Would like to see Gross and Bo come in but that is probably one too many so hold Bo over until round 6 for a home debut maybe.
Flip a coin between Owies and Brockman to see who comes out, Hunt on thin ice.

Time for some magnet moves as well. Can't hurt. Kelly to a wing of high HFF. Hunt running off a HBF. Graham and Baker to be the experience in the midfield with Hewett, Reid, Hall and Gross running through there as well. Like to see Reid, Hewett and Hall attend a few center bounces together.
Geez, maybe even give Ryan a run on a wing.

Hewett picked up 6 possessions from 33% game time. Oscar Allen picked up 4 disposals from 84%. Ouch.

I was actually low key annoyed when Allen FINALLY scabbed his first mark in the 4th quarter via a chip kick sideways to him in the back pocket.

Was hoping he'd go the entire game without a mark given how totally ineffective he was for the first 3 quarters up forward. Needs the blowtorch put on him.

Worried now he's going to tank his market value and might not trigger band 1 with his RFA compo. Losing him and not getting band 1 would be Doomsday.

In: Hall, Petch

Backline will be short but oh well.

Surely Oscar is injured. The guy has been invisible apart from his customary attempt to land on his head once a game.

Bruised ego, would be my guess.

Hoping its not Jack Williams that is out. Said it before but he was a lonely non Harley Reid highlight from last year.
Comes in and does his job fine. Presents well, battles in the ruck (actually thought in the GC win last year that his ruck work was better than BW). When he takes a grab in front of goals its a fairly good chance of going through. When he takes a mark up the ground moves it on quickly where you don't feel as though he is holding up the play and has skills to execute the kick.

Him getting games is exactly what this year should be about.

Long and Owies need a break. Cripps did enough yesterday and week before to hold his spot for now.
I think Brockman is improving slightly each week.

I've been off TK for a while and I don't think he is enjoying his footy as its coming through loud and clear with the lack of intent he has. There was a moment (early in the 2nd?) game was tight and a 50/50 ball in the air in the middle at half back. Is was a great opportunity to bodyline the ball, take the body. Instead he did the stop short, reach in front of the Freo player like a ballet dancer that didn't come off and the Freo player took the ball and went forward creating a shot at goal.

It's the perfect opportunity to show the younger players how to hit the contest as an experienced player and he avoided it. Frustrating to watch.

On Kelly I think he made some errors but my impression watching on TV was that he was actually playing up forward more than he usually does, and I am pretty keen on that. He took some strong marks leading up from half forward and roved that one tap beautifully, it wasn't his day but I saw more of what I like in Tim Kelly yesterday than I usually do in his poorer games.

With a name like owies you hope it’s the oppo he is hurting but unfortunately i get get massive owies in my head watching him **** up certain scoring opportunities

Bruised ego, would be my guess.

He just needs to sign the contract at this point, put himself out of his misery.

You can kind of feel for him.

24 months ago he was the crowning jewel on the clubs list, was pushing himself to do all sorts of media content despite clearly struggling with being on camera, and had prematurely been made Captain. He would have rightly thought he would be the next marquee player at west coast and his name would be going down alongside the likes of Jackovich, Worsfold and Judd. Has a great 2023.

Next minute we draft Harley Reid, his mate Jake Waterman comes from nowhere and plays at a level above what he achieved the year before while he watches from the sidelines, and there's a new list manager in town who isn't afraid to let players walk if they overvalue themselves. Then he comes back and is fairly poor and Glen Jackovitch embarrasses him so hard with a fairly routine question post match about senior players that he probably never wants to do another interview in his life. Then the new coach comes in and asks him day one of pre-season what he thinks about playing defence. And meanwhile his manager is fielding offers from rival clubs who are desperate for a key forward.

He would rightly think that all his problems would be solved if he just comes out this year and picks up where be left off in 2023, but the club has been exceptional poor to open its accounts and none are more vulnerable than a full forward when the midfield is monumentally poor with Yeo out injured and Harley suffering second year blues while Tim Kelly struggles with his own lack of motivation.

Rarely in life do you see a circumstantial cluster **** on the level of what is happening to Oscar Allen. His form is understandable really.

The universe has provided him with an answer though, the team NEEDs him to go back, so there is no shame in obliging, in fact it would be praise worthy for him to sacrifice his own game and go back there.

He should do it, make peace with the fact he's not going to be paid like Buddy Franklin because he doesn't have the heat he did 2 years ago, and just sign a fair deal to see out his career at the club he likely loves.

Alternatively, considering how much he's struggled so far a year in defence probably increases his value as opposition clubs are forced to judge him on 2023 form rather than 2025 form, and get a sense that there is blood in the water, a gettable key forward being played out of position.

I hope he stays. But to me, his days as the player West Coasts needs to build their next contenting forward line around are over. My sense is that despite being a fan favourite [rapidly turning by the look] the list manager and the coach both know this too. It's a lot to swallow but just embrace the swings and roundabouts Oscar, as I've always said there's no shame in being the next Ashley McIntosh.

Worried now he's going to tank his market value and might not trigger band 1 with his RFA compo. Losing him and not getting band 1 would be Doomsday.

Even if he does **** all the entire year, if he’s judged to be worth a lower band compensation than Ben McKay I’ll be absolutely filthy.
