Also positives, vic media and fans turning on Harley might galvanise him on staying West. Hopefully.

If he does leave you just know the media narrative and umpire treatment will 100% change to the better..

He will be another Daicos simply by changing jumpers..and some people actually believe there is no Vic Bias

Bailey Williams is our most important player, subsequently

Him going off changed the whole game..We were maybe a tall lite anyway. But when he went off they were able to double team Oscar and Harris Andrews just had a field day in the 2nd half

Anyone else concerned with houghys kicking? Love the bloke but a lot of the time he’s prone to a mongrel or if not a poorly placed kick to an opponent coming out of D50
Look back to early years Glass and EMac. They both had very sketchy disposals.
Similar situation, he'll get there, comes with experience and confidence

They trialed him at half back all preseason and watching him I had two concerns.

Firstly, he sometimes bit off more than he could chew with some of his kicks which resulted in turnovers. That said, I liked that he was taking risks and it seemed he was being encouraged to do so - it was more decision making than skill errors which can be improved with experience. Still a work in progress but he showed that in time it can become a weapon for us

The other issue was it wasn’t clear how good defensively he’d be but he looked fairly sound with that yesterday

Like you say he needs to be kept there
I loved his run from the kick out to D50, he was moving very smoothly as well. The closest we have had to Jetta in the backline for a while with his run and kicking.

Positive: we got the better of baker / Shai Bolton

The Cockburn flogs have already turned on Bolton, "he's there for his reultirement fund".

Still dirty about giving up pick 3 though. Hopefully the other players we drafted make me eat my shorts.

Even in 2018 Gov and Jetta did the same thing and they kept getting backed in. We need to persist with Maric in this role.. Yes there's going to be times when he completely misses a target, but there will also be those ones that open the whole game up and lead to a goal. We've missed someone who wants to risk it rather than take the easy 'long down the line' way out.

I would've thought you'd be eating your shorts now after seeing what those 3 offer as a connecting bridge to the next stage. If we'd got a #3 pick as gun midfielder, presumably young and relatively inexperienced, we'd still be getting smashed and wouldn't have the leadership and hardness across the lines to help implement Mini's plan. It would be much worse than it is and take longer to implement, arguably.

That pick #3 is coming, in a sense, in '25 draft/trade...and more.

What we saw this week makes some of the positional and personnel selections last week even more disappointing. Clay Hall should have been in the guts round 1. Dewar should have played a more prominent role. Maric should never have been the sub.. and I still think JWilliams should be in the side over AReid. BWiliams grabbed his second chance well, can't work out what Flynn is up to.
About half the side new to AFL or WCE or minimal games from last year and one of the youngest lists and still no WAFL matches … NEWSFLASH … it might take more than R1 to find our best side.

Great effort from the boys and very hurtful to not actually get the points.
Simply no Ruck in the last killed us. We seriously to to get a mature ruckman for a few years who can win the ball around the ground.
The media attention on Harley is for one reason only.....to get him to go home. I have zero doubt that he is being guided at WCE despite the media's attention.

The club needs to fight back...but can't be seen to be the ones doing this. They need to enlist a few personalities in the East to champion this cause. if the "Orange Turd" has taught anyone something...it is the successful manipulation of the Media.

Not getting the Kelly did well comments? Yes he got more of the ball than he did last week, but butchered it going forward so many times.
At this point Kelly is just stamping the tickets before he retires.
He's not interested in doing anything except finish his career. Doesn't seem motivated to help us win anything including a game of football.

Kelly was one of two WCE players to get coaches votes on the weekend. Ryan was the other

He had a good game and was clearly invested in getting us a win

Needs to back that up in the derby now

Dewar a must watch.

26 possessions by maric is a big game. I know many were kick ins but presented well.

Of those 26 possessions, only 5 were kickins so he still had 21 which is pretty decent

i want so see ginbey in the ruck :O
this is much easier than scrubbing through the replay :D

Incredibly frustrating that the AFL will issue edicts about umpiring at optus but will allow the nonsense we saw today go unchecked.

Very few 50/50 umpiring calls went our way and we copped some staggeringly harsh calls.
A lot of people lose a lot of money with big upsets.

I just saw the last quarter but we just can't find space. Why do we always pass it to someone surrounded by opposition players? Why do players always feel the need to break tackles? We have no structure and system that I can see anyway.

I can't fault the effort, but I actually think it's the fact we're weirdly competitive at the Gabba even when we've been bad. I hope it's more than that though and we are better.
