It does suck seeing Hall dropped after a promising game last week. However, it’s an exciting change from the last few years of fetid reek to see battles for spots. Graham will know Hall is breathing down his neck if he has a poor game.

There’ll be more uncomfortable decisions like this to be made when Hutchinson and Yeo returns eg. Hutch vs Hunt for wing spot or Yeo vs Graham for mid spot.

Was our BoG and it wasn't close.

Yep BOG in a game we got spanked and mostly uncontested. How about leading contested ball for either team as a 20 yr old in a game away against the reigning prems that we we were actually in as a result.

Both needed to play, and there are some others that needed to be dropped too. Moving the magnets to play someone else in stints at HF to cover Long (not hard at present) would have been a simple solution.

Would be more confident of a Derby win with Hall and Fridge through there. Hall was in our top 5 players in a game we actually were in. I prefer we play winning football, I dunno if that’s just me 🤷

Because he needs to do more than just win contested possessions, especially when he didn't do much for the entire second half of the game.

Again, we all complained when Simpson did this to accommodate players. Are we seriously advocating for this again on the back of one game?

Hall needs to perform in the WAFL and push those above him in his position out, not get shoehorned into a completely different role(or someone else) just to fit him in the side.

That's what selection integrity actually is. It also settles players into roles they actually train for, not get moved around into positions they don't train for and subsequently suck at it.

According to who?

Not the coaches, for starters.

Wasn't listed in the best on the match report.

He was our 15th ranked player, based of fantasy points if you want to use that metric.

Fantasy points?

So you choose to ignore coaches' votes and match reports?

Or do you put more weight into the WC Bigfooty board votes?

Can you explain to me where he was '5th best' on any metric?
Only 2 of our players got coaches votes so that doesn't mean he wasn't one of our best/most effective. Match reports are written by who exactly? They should never be taken as gospel.

No idea how many bf votes he got but I would imagine he receievd a few because he definitely had an impact, maybe not top 5 but wouldn't have been far off either which is more than you'd expect for a late call up 3rd gamer playing the premiers in Brisbane in difficult conditions.

They definitely should've found a way to keep him in the side after that performance if you ask me but I guess they have their reasons not to do so. Let's hope we don't get smashed in contested ball because that will go a long way to losing us the game.

I think they just want to keep players in positions they've actually trained for to keep their structure as well as help their development.

Moving players around constantly to fit them in the AFL side is how you end up with blokes like Chesser and Brander failing to develop.

Fair argument but I don't think they would've had to do much reshuffling in this instance to make it work, any of Graham, Kelly or Reid could've just played a bit more time at half forward to fit Hall in, and would arguably would be better for Kelly and Reid at this stage.

Should Brockman have been dropped based on the Lions game?
Same role, had 2 more possessions but 2 more clangers.
No tackles in the F50 to Longs 1
8 Pressure Acts a piece
Long had 5 Score involvements to 3

Not saying they both are doing enough at the moment but the knives out for Long but not Brockman is just silly.
Both of them need to find touch and looks like the coach wants them to do that in the Seniors rather than the WAFL.

The difference is that Long is coming off a long layoff with a knee injury... which means has a legitimate excuse, but it also means it's not the worst idea to have him spend some time in the WAFL building his fitness and getting more confidence in his body. You're also conveniently forgetting that Brockman kicked 2 goals against Brisbane, and had 15 disposals the week before against Gold Coast. Long has never kicked more than a single goal in a game.

Personally I am stoked a hard nosed, tough player like Graham is in the team for the Derby. I almost feel empathy for any dockers players looking to give Reid a hard time, Graham is going to hurt them.
I stress almost😀

Papalia on 6PR this morning was saying Oscar got heatstroke from the game last weekend. Firstly that may explain his somewhat lacklustre second half (along with being a lone tall in our forward line), and secondly yet another example of why the AFL have no idea when it comes to fixturing outside of Victoria.

Crazy.

Its wild that AFLPA managed to get a heat training exemption where if it's above 36 degrees they aren't aloud to train, yet the season starts mid-March and the games are scheduled for midday Brissy time, 3pm our time etc.

We seem to have gotten lucky this week (and last week) with Sunday being slightly cooler, but imagine if the game was this afternoon.

I agree with the PA on this one, but surely that needs to flow into games as well. Any march/early April game in Perth should be 630 start. Similar brissy

I'd go as far as suggesting a government mandate nation-wide of no one having to work when the temp cracks 35 degrees.

On a serious note, not hard to say March and April in WA and QLD games have to be twilight or later starts, but they're too concerned with providing blockbuster timeslots to awesomely performing teams such as Richmond, Carlton and Essendon to make that possible.

That was what I thought would happen arriving at the ground for the Suns…. spoiler alert - it wasn’t
