How about we get excited about the youth in the side. Pump as many games into them as possible.

I think most are but to play devil's advocate many do want to see the team competitive. I reckon we'll give a good account of ourselves tonight. The game plan is probably more on my mind than the actual result. Hope they take it on as they do at training but with a more experienced side I think we will see good signs of it no doubt.

Everyone knows this is a practice game and not a grand final right?

There’s a trophy up for grabs though

Don’t see the need to play Dow in this one when we should be getting a look at the likes of Mansell, Campbell and MRJ as third on-baller with Taranto/Hopper. We should be giving Alger another run in a decent team to see if he can hold down a small forward spot as this will allow Mansell, Campbell and MRJ to push up the ground, help cover wing or play on-ball.

Ryan will also spend at least half the game up forward. We have 4 other talls on the team and could be playing Gray as well. We know Ryan can’t cut the mustard at AFL level so why not run those guys up there without him in the way. Even sit OHB on the bench just to play ruck.

To put it bluntly, it doesn’t appear Yze has learned anything from last year.
McAuliffe and sonsie are in the team. No Prestia might give sonsie another chance as a mid. Dow named on the wing, more likely he swaps with Ross.
Plenty of chances for the half forwards to roll through the middle too.
Dow can read the ball quite well. Not much of a kick.

Nah bro, I’m not defending the umps, just pointing out that bad calls etc happen to all teams. There is no conspiracy theory against us. You’re all just lunatics
Umps giving us a rough time was proven years ago due to the about 8 years of data. I reckon you'd be in a group of about 0.1% of Richmond supporters who are of your opinion.

Individual bad calls happen to all teams but the statistics confirm we get the least free kicks irrespective of players, coach, playing style or our position on the ladder.

Lynch struggling with concussion? Or have they increased the length of concussion “protocols”?

Seems like we've put a line through Sonsie as a mid. Campbell and Mansell were getting mid time ahead of him last week.

I there any argument that what Smith and even Gray for all we know have done enough over the summer that they are being pencilled in rd.1.

From all accounts Smith has been very impressive all summer, Gray might have been as well and was certainly was one of the wins of the WC game. It may be far fetched, but you never know until Yze says something about selection.

Do they want to give Trainor a shot to see how he preforms, the young Armstrong, Fawcett, Simms, get a taste. If one really stands up then maybe they will get a gig. I doubt any of those 4 names will start rd.1, but the one that stands up the best might.

Looking at the Collingwood side selected, they really only have a handful of talented players. Nick Daicos & Bobby Hill, recruited Dan Houston because they know their depth isn't great. They have a bunch of mid 30-year-olds they still rely so heavily on.

They have been successful because they are a system-based side, once that is exposed like last year, they really are a bunch of battlers. Can really see the bottom falling out from them.

I think it’s very unlikely that they would be penciled in for round 1 but they may be in consideration with a strong performance in the VFL.

Gray is probably the more likely as we haven’t had a single tall cement their spot up forward (other than Lynch). Smith is probably vying for a bench spot but lack of versatility could be an issue early in the season.

Alger is the one I’m a bit baffled about. Trained the house down but sent back to the twos when the senior players come back. Look at Kako last night.

The problem for Dow is that neither Taranto nor Hopper are great kicks. We cannot have three midfielders that aren't good kicks. Maybe playing him as a forward close to goals would work?

Will be good to finally get the season officially underway tonight. It's been a tough off season and nearly everyone on this board has been spoiling for a fight with each other.

Maybe in next years off season we need to organise a rage room or paintball comp.
