Things I hope Horse says when he is interviewed:

14 years is a long time in one place - some might say too long.

I am doing this because I care for the club.

Ultimately you are judged on success and Australian football is about winning it all and although competitive we just couldn't get over that last hump in the last few years so I rightly carry the can for that.

It is time for the players to hear a new voice. They need it even though they might be uncomfortable for a little while.

And David Chris and Matthew will sit back and say ...that's nice .... How stable are we.

Their succession plan was no secret, similar to Carr. Something was always going to happen soon, given Horse was out of contract at the end of next season.

Meanwhile we seem hell bent on letting Hinkley ride it out to the end and have the speculation burning like a wild fire all season. When we could just nip it in the bud right now, at the very least announce that Hinkley is handing over the reigns at the end of next season no matter what happens.

One thing i thought was that the Horse/Cox situation might've taken some of the spotlight off us but that's not going to happen now.

Just imagine if this was us

" Port Adelaide have announced Ken Hinkley will step into a new role at the club - 'executive director, club performance' "

Bigburley would explode
You're right, but to be totally honest, I wouldn't care what his new role was so long as it didn't include the words "head coach".

Yeah there is that. Four losing GFs would suck.
Even one losing GF would be the highest achievement of the career of the ****head we've had in charge for twelve years.

Makes more sense to have your assistant take over in a successful program, it doesn't make any in our situation. Our farce will continue, we will hand it to Carr without any proper coaching serach and he's been Hinkleyfied now so it'll just be more of the same shit. We need someone fresh in, desperately.

The succession plan has been in place since Ron Barassi was coach. His assistant Rodney Eade replaced him. Eade's assistant coach Paul Roos replaced him. Roos' assistant coact John Longmire replaced him. Longmire's assistant coach Dean Cox replaced him. So the question really is, who takes over from Cox?
