The game is *ed when the rules are now so opaque that a blatant push in the back is allowable because its seen a push in the side. Like there's a meaningful difference.

Gotta get that commercial break in for s**t you don't need, I guess.

The Goldilocks rule

Push in the back? Illegal mate. That's a free against.

Push in the front? Also illegal. That's bloody "front on contact."

Push in the sweet spot between the two? Phwoar nice push in the side mate. Play on.

Push in the anywhere if you're a big brute like May or Hawkins? Phwoar too strong! That kind of show of strength is good for footy. Play on!

Riewoldt puts hands in opponent’s back, gets to kick goal.
Naughton puts hands in opponent’s back, free to opponent.

Also, looks like the dissent rule has quietly faded away.

On the bright side, if he gets 4 wins he's made a huge improvement. Wouldn't be hard, especially with the core of good young players at Arden St.
If he gets 6 wins they'll say he has them on finals trajectory.
And if he gets 8 wins or better he's the messiah.

After today, be lucky to get one or two wins.

Do any of the above in the midfield. Its off to Nuremberg for you.

Am I heartless that I thought there was a bit too much carry on with Hurley? All the Tigers players ran up to hug him after he kicked a goal, he isn’t some legend of the game? Guard of honour now too?

Bloke hasn’t played for three years, was seriously ill, and i think at risk of losing his legs. He was also a very good player.

More than that, at risk of losing his life. The hip infection was so bad he had to get part of his hip replaced. Bloody miracle that he's standing upright let alone playing top level sport again.

We need to push the AFL umpires for consistency in the interpretation.

Too harsh on May and Hawkins. May works his opponent under the ball and Hawkins out-bodies his opponent. Naughts is the only pusher. Fcuk if he wasn't an AFL player he'd be on a street corner somewhere in Richmond making a squillion.

The dissent rule is only their when they want it to be, watched a fair portion of the showdown last night and it was paid against finlayson early for pretty much nothing.

Finlayson is a flog but after the dissent rule was paid against him he got crucified by the umpires non-stop the rest of the night. Just umpires showing how precious they are
