"Now about that contract Steve"

thought you might've gone with this

Thought we played pretty well across the board and controlled the game most of the time. Good to see some of defenders bounce back - seemed to be much more organised today, especially in the first half.

Enjoyed seeing Chris Scott deliver a spray too. Walker took a slight backward step when the fist was raised, haha. I would too.

With nothing concrete to back it, they did say on TripleM on the way home that they aren't in negotiation at the moment.

Interesting, considering only 4-5 weeks ago, Motlop said negotiations were underway. If he has put it off until the end of the season, it's not what we want to hear.

He signed late last contract didn't he? If he's unsigned midway through September then I'll be concerned, some here think it's fait accompli he's leaving and that is rather frustrating.
Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised either way. He's definitely playing like a committed player but at the same time, from an uninformed, external perspective he does strike me as the most likely on our list to chase the coin. Given that it's dragged out this long, you would assume that is the sticking point and it's inevitable he will be getting big offers from elsewhere.

Not great but as I said there was nothing concrete or quoted in what they said, just heard them comment that there were currently no negotiations so take it with a grain of salt.

Oh no,Dumb & Dumber will be commentating again next week

In the first half the nuffies kept mentioning Geelongs percentage. They didn't seem to realise we're only competing with Adelaide on percentage

same with Sandy Roberts on Fox

and on 3AW they kept saying Kelly had it  lucky I could see which team

This phase we're in kind of reminds me of the early noughties, which were occasionally ugly, often frustrating, and which evolved into a period of the very very specials. Still, even putting aside long term gains for the moment, i has to be said that it's always good to win, period.

Even if that has to include winning ugly.

Just got back from the game, my thoughts:

Positives:
-Entire defensive unit was very good.
-Selwood seems freed up more with Caddy & Motlop stepping up, but also Duncan returning is great for him.
-Loved Murdoch's game today. Definitely taking the game on more & more which is great to see! Besides the whole 'out on the full after a great run' part :p
-I liked Scotty's spray at 3QT. Seems like we responded well enough from it in the last :)
-Also when the game was in the bag I liked seeing a centre bounce with Smedts & Lang in it to see how they go!

Negatives:
-Mackie wasn't a great decision maker today, he doesn't like being tackled at all & also he hand balled it twice in one play to a teammate directly under pressure...
-Gregson has massively exceeded expectations this year but has been a bit quiet lately & I wouldn't be surprised if we rest him or just give him some time in VFL again to regain form & consistency.
-Goal kicking was horrible today besides Hawkins & Motlop pretty much. But GWS kicked badly too so wasn't too much a big deal.

Kept a very close eye on Smedts today. When he was sub it was good seeing him get up & hi-five the players coming off keeping them positive. When he was subbed on he wasn't given much time to make an impact but did pretty good. Didn't touch it much but saw him pointing fingers around & making sure the setup was good around the ground & he was running to both ends well when we were attacking & then when we had to defend. Sadly he couldn't kick that goal but still I hope he isn't dropped & I hope he is given a full game next week!

Agree with all this but thought Gregson looked better than he has for the past few weeks. Good to keep playing for mine.
Be great to get one final into these young lads this year.
ps loving Kolo's work-he is mingy isn't he!

Only watched the first 2 1/2 quarters and listened on the radio thereafter. Overall, controlled the game and deserved to be a greater margin at the end. I thought on the whole we were well coached (it appeared)..just goes to show that coaches are no different to players in that respect.

Overall I thought we were solid across the field. I've noted that a few have mentioned Kersten as being poor (I think). I thought his pressure in the first half made it hard for GWS running the ball out. A few times they were running it out and he made an effort to pressure and they had to rush their kick.

only 4 goal scorers for us today. That's a big red flag in my book.

Nothing like a win against a young side to smooth over the cracks
Emptied out the forward line to accommodate Hawkins and clogged the Giants backline, don't sweat it tactically very good by Scott.
