Strategy Changes: Round 3 West Coast Eagles vs. Fremantle Dockers

People have said word for word "I hope we lose".

JL's career hinges on our appearance and performance in the finals this year, he has acknowledged as much in his new employment status and is betting on himself, he has taken on all the risk and done the right thing by the club.

I just don't understand not backing the whole club 100% until it's a statistical impossibility of us not making finals.

You need every little thing to go right to win a flag and the supporter base needs to lead the players through the tough times, not the other way around.
Fact is though that we cannot afford to miss finals 3 years in a row. The development of our list requires it or we’ll be utterly ****ed.

Really scraping the barrel… let’s keep defending mediocrity.

Saying that certain parts of that game were a positive for us is in no way defending mediocrity. No one is saying that they loved the way we played against Sydney.

Nuance does exist however. Just because we lost doesn’t mean some people can’t highlight some positives if they want to.

TOP: Team "let's back JL until the season is over" even if he gets sacked.

BOTTOM: Team "we're going nowhere until JL gets sacked"

So when we got drilled by 78 in round 1 you had a happy face?

I don't think that comes from focusing on the journey. I think that might be the drugs.

Small wins, being competitive "journey" orientated stuff is fine for a while. He's been at this for 6 years. The age profile below notwithstanding, it's time to get it done.

Youngest & least experienced. Again.

We should drop Moose, Ryan and JoM and replace them with 18yos and see if we can break some records.

Fair call, think the one change is all they need.
Gameplan was the bigger issue rather than talent/selection last week IMO.

I especially think that in context of what I think we can change without injured players returning to the side. I haven't seen much of Dudley tbh but outside of that I'm pretty convinced we'll have our best available 22 or close enough out there.

Feel for Reidy, as he's clearly not AFL standard and probably on the outer already now....

However, had he been selected it would be 1 Reidy and 3 Reids running around out there

It's probably for the best :laughv1:

Not the whole game, but I was happy footy was back, I really miss it when its gone.

My wife is Indonesian, never barracked for a sport team in her whole life, her first game was the last derby of 2023, now she absolutely loves the Dockers, knows every players name, buries her head in her hands when either team is kicking for goal, laughs cruelly when the oppo miss.

When Bruce went on that third quarter run, we were in each others arms screaming and she was asking me through happy tears "what the **** is happening right now?!"

I'll never forget that game and believe it or not I'll always remember it fondly.

lol good luck to the kid but **** me that’s desperate
What???... you dont like young fast, talented, naturally instinctual, accurate kicking mercurial small forwards?? Ok.

Personally I think this is a fantastic selection by JLo, credit when its due. I reckon the kid will kick a few and if our bigs can remember to lead, and Sharp can remember to lower his eyes, that foward line, small line up of the Wombat, Bolton and Bruce looks mighty dangerous to me. Its also time for a Freddy back flip.

lets go!

I've seen the error of my ways Ghost Pig

If we beat West Coast this week who are missing Elliot Yeo, Tom Barrass and Jake Waterman from the last time we played them, a West Coast acknowledged as one of the worst teams ever even with those guys playing, Flagmantle will be back on the agenda.

It's not the fact that we lost both games but how we looked. An ugly slog of a win over the Eagles is about the best we can hope for based on what we've seen.

You know, beneath the jaded sarcasm is your inner child, and they just want to watch the footy with ya.

None of you can trick me with your candied words about how terrible West Coast are, 3 points up at 3/4 time against the reigning premiers on their home deck.

Flagmantle, to me, is a trojan horse until it's not.

I'm so excited for Dud's, Bolton and Bruce running around in our fwd 50, absolute class.

West Coast literally got within 13 of Brisbane a couple weeks before Brisbane won the flag. Played out the exact same. Week leading up: Brisbane gonna win by a record amount. Game happens: surprisingly close.

Them getting that close this early on in the season especially means nothing to me. People are reading too much into it.
