Luke Parker
Luke Parker has plenty of football ahead and has already compiled a resume packed with impressive achievements. Since landing at the Sydney Swans via the 2010 AFL Draft, he has won a 2012 premiership medal, earned All Australian selection and won two Bob Skilton medals. In 2015, he was added to the club’s leadership group at the age of just 22, and has led the team as a co-captain alongside Josh Kennedy and Dane Rampe since 2019. While Parker is among the league’s elite midfielders, his strong marking and expert game awareness make him a genuine threat when rotating through the forward line.

Luke Parker
DOB: 25 October 1992
DEBUT: 2011
DRAFT: #40, 2010 National Draft
RECRUITED FROM: Langwarrin (Vic)/Dandenong U18

That will be the narrative next year to explain Parker's good performances.

"Well norf are terrible so somebody has to get the footy I guess."

My opinion is he is being shown the same disrespect he was shown all year! Please do the right thing and let him go gracefully!

So we should accept heinous unders just because and he wasn’t shown disrespect during the year anyway. It’s day 4 in a trade week. A fourth round junk pick isn’t enough

What North is offering is frankly disgraceful, any neutral knows he is worth a lot more. Rawlings isn't fooling anyone saying they are "happy to move on", their club is in desperate need of experience and he's their big recruit of the summer that they've been chasing all year. The length of contract + money they have offered him proves that they think he can be an important player for them in years to come.
Can you imagine what the supporter base would do to the club if they walked away after giving them hope?

I say we get you and LukeParkerno1 in a room somewhere else to thrash out the deal then let the clubs know.

Hey what did I do to deserve sitting in a room with a North fan!

Latest from Ralph:

"..the Roos are keen to secure premiership Swan Luke Parker for a later selection, likely a future pick.

The Swans have asked for a second-rounder but that is not realistic given Parker’s age and determination to get out of Sydney for a number of reasons."

"For a number of reasons" is such a polite way of saying "Because North are shit and Parker is probably instantly a top 5 player there" LOL

More likely the years and money being offered plus the way we treated him.

We value him at more than pick 62. That shows we value him more than a pick we won’t use.

We are letting him go gracefully and take up a 3 year deal when he has a year to go on his current contract.

I am curious whether the swans view Parker plus his salary as a net negative next year, or a small net positive.

Rawlings appears to be assuming that
the Swans view Parker as a net negative, and that the Swans will eventually fold.

If Sydney continue to hold their ground and not trade at 62 or simile valued future picks, the Rawlings will need to decide if Parker is a big net positive for North or only a small net positive. Given their head coach specifically mentioned Parker before any trade talk commenced, and the length and size of the contract, I reckon there is a good chance that North eventually folds (assuming of course they Swans are happy for pick 44 or whatever it is, and not pick 24 - which I think most people think is unrealistic to expect).

I'm hoping we end up with F3 as the best result for all concerned. A pick this year isn't much value, even 44.

I think 44 would be extremely good value as Brisbane have 32, 34, 42, 43 thats 3 picks move up for the Ashcroft bid alone. Kako bid will swallow up the proposed 28 from Melbourne and Essendons current 31. Another pick up the order now to 40. Then the Lombard bid we don't know the exact position but i suspect that it will move the pick up to 39. #39 i think can be shipped off live for Maybe an F2 given how strong this draft is? I think you can also draft a mature age guy as well. Think you get more value by letting the pick get traded live than just taking an F3.

EDIT just seen that Essendon might get 28, 40 and F1 for pick 9 which could mean that North's 44 goes up to 38 but i suspect it will be 39 depending on where Kako gets drafted etc

Number 1 reason: His first contract year at North
Number 2 reason: His second contract year at North
Number 3 reason: His third contract year at North

44 might give us 3 picks before the Cochran bid who should not be bidded on before 50 plus

#44 is projected to come in to 39 or so with all the bid matching which we could bargain off for an F2 next year overnight in the draft if someone has someone high up on their list that they want

Yep which is why I'd reluctantly accept it. 3 picks before a Cochran bid not that I rate Cochran much. On basic terms we'd have 19, 21, 44, then Cohran. We'd have to delist one more (probably Jacob Konstanty I wouldn't but think that's what they do)

what nonsense.

He's not worth much to us. But he's been a good and loyal servant. Thank him for his service and look at the next player. Its not unders. We arent going to offer him a new contract. Its a years service as a fringe player. thats about 45-rookie.
