His kicking for goal is great as well

Hall looks a class player. He's more a mobile high HF than a goal sneak but he just has the class factor that not many of them have. Kicks well, wins contests and looks a quality converter. Butler has to push Snags or Collard out. Both are not making that easy for him.

Snags is going nowhere

I think Butler will have to wait for Collard to have a couple of quiet games.

I think Henry is an instant in if he’s fit enough. If that means someone is stiff then so be it. 3 games in the VFL and had 24 touches with 8 tackles on the weekend, I’d assume that’s enough of a fitness test.

King ditto, if he’s fit enough he plays. Stick him at FF if he’s not at 100 percent. Don’t think Keeler can play, Boyd in if King isn’t fit. Taylor and Buckley would have a field day against Keeler.

Steele again instant in.

Henry/ Steele/ King in

Byrnes or Jones out /Hastie/ Keeler out

Henry maybe even sub if they think he’s still not 100 percent as there’s no VFL this week.

Who ever RTB and co deems to come out i guess
It's an opinion based forum. The point I was making, if posters are just going to laugh at suggested team changes, perhaps present a point of view.

There is nothing more basic than "Thank goodness you don't run the show".

What's the point even responding with that? Disagree, sure, but perhaps articulating a point might be useful.

Good problem to have, some real selection pressure. I'm not sure yesterday was our best performance, we got the 4 points but Port were the better side for big chunks of the match. Hopefully we're still reviewing the game with a critical eye.

Tobie and Hall are the obvious ones who didnt have a huge output and would make way for Steele and Henry.

What's going on with Steele?
I feel like we can bring Butler in without dropping Collard.
Then good luck to them trying to run it out of our fwd half.

Hastie, Jones, Byrnes, Hall, Travaglia off the top of my head would come out before Windhager if Steele and Pou were coming in this week.
Fair enough.

I think it is close to be fair. Would normally agree on Jones, but he was ridiculously good against the Cats. His best footy is still better, albeit he struggles to be consistent.

Hastie and Hall competing for different spots IMO, but I rate both highly regardless.

Whichever way you slice it, competition for spots is fantastic. Good sides have blokes that are unlucky to be left out👍

I love the idea of having midfield depth in your side and I think that both Windy and Garcia offer versatility.

Windhager has played in every line on the ground. I thought he played some really good footy across half back when put there and I think he'd at least match Max Hall output across half forward.

Then you've always got that option to give him the role on the best mid which he does as well as anyone in the comp right now other than maybe Bedford from the Giants

There are only so many spots in the midfield. Steele will come back. One of Trav, Jones or Garcia will likely have to make way.

As I said, I would have Trav out of the side this week but Windhager would be next in line for me at the moment. Jones has been great so far this year, even if his numbers on the weekend were down.

I would rather see Garcia retain a spot over Windhager right now. Somebody is going to have to make way for Pou when he comes back also.

Windy gave away a 50 that lead to a goal at the start of the match, the made about 4 panicked decisions in a row at one point. Outside of Byrnes he was our least composed player all day.

Sure, granted he did some good things defensively. So did Trav and Garcia.

There are limited spots. Who would you have making way for Steele and Pou when he returns in a few weeks?
I appreciate you explaining your take but you are going to find no support on the Windhager being dropped call - from Big Footy or the Saints coaches.

He has literally blanketed the opposition's most damaging player in the last three matches, and in two of them was damaging himself.

Granted he made some errors with the ball but he would need to do that for four more weeks and not have any effect on his opponent to have any chance of being dropped for form. Runs on the board.

In terms of who goes out for Steele and Phillipou, we do have a selection squeeze. But there is quite a few players to go out before you consider Windhager.

Travaglia as you mentioned.

Garcia is going alright but he would be squeezed out before. I'm impressed but needs to work on finding the ball outside stoppage and being clean below his knees. Would be stiff.

If Phillipou comes in, Max Hall would go before Windhager. Again unlucky but the Poo can play forward and pressure too.

Byrnes would also go before Windhager. Players could be shuffled around.

I also believe Zak Jones would be touch and go as well. Had a solid start to the season. But struggled yesterday.

It's a nice selection problem to have but your view on Windhager is misguided.

Fair enough, I do see your point even if I am not necessarily as enamoured with Windy as some.

I suspect Ross is a big fan, as defensively he is holding up, so as you say has some runs on the board.

If he can continue to improve his offensive game he will absolutely win me over. He looks to be a tidy kick when he has time and space.

Danger game for GWS coming off a training run against West Coast. If we bring the heat, we could get them.
Bring the Heat??

It is forecast to be 30+ degrees for Saturday & Sunday ..... 15kmh wind ..... gunna be a scorcher

Not sure who that suits?? But not ideal for both teams

Of course we get one day less to recover than Bulldogs who we play the following week

So who comes out for Steele and Pou when he is back.

Garcia, Jones? Put up a name, or do you think we can play 30 blokes.
I suppose Hall. Matter of fact, although I don't think Butler is best 22, that is when a full fit team is available. I suppose Butler is better than Hall, maybe, but not Collard and not Wilson, or even Brynes. Of Pou, he is still an unknown in my book? Could he play the role of that Melbourne guy with the JFK haircut? If he could do that, it would be great.

The aspect I most love about Hall, and he has many good qualities, is that he is so quick to make good decisions AND to then quickly act on that decision, and to act on it well.

That is a trait that Sinclair has too.

The best teams now move the ball well quickly. Hall can be part of that chain.

So Hall is really that good? This is exciting if he is. And then Butler should definitley wait.
