Bit of a free hit this one. Pressure of us, which makes us dangerous.

Steele for Trav or Windy. Probably go with Trav out of the side, but Windy on notice. He was poor on the weekend. Lot's of panicked possessions, didn't look after the footy.

Swap Hastie and Byrnes. Make Byrnes the sub, and let him loose on the wing the last quarter and a half. He is the perfect sub. Get him out of the back line, too many mistakes. Hastie knows how to defend.

Looking forward to this one, no expectations. We will be doing well to keep it close. They are a bloody good team.

I don't think Windhager is even a single percent chance of being dropped.

You are right that he panicked with the ball under pressure a few times but you are completely ignoring three other obvious aspects.

  • He cut the head off the Port Adelaide snake in limiting the impact of captain Connor Rozee to his lowest tally of the season (20) and no scoreboard impact.
  • Now has the scalps of Max Holmes, Tim Taranto and Connor Rozee in his pocket this season
  • Was among the best against Geelong, solid against Richmond and was close to the best versus Port in a shutdown role.
The more I think about it, the more ridiculous your chat is.

Continue with Keeler until King gets back - This is providing valuable experience for the kid and yes he didn't have the best of games yesterday, but it will be a learning curve for him. When he went off they marked everything and we lacked a tall big time. Cordy would do a better job, but we need to be looking for the future and there is no point playing him unless we simply don't have anyone.

Steele in if fit for their Byrnes/Trav/Hastie

Leave Butler and Henry in the VFL for another week considering they got pumped by 100 odd points so couldn't have gone that well with the others

Our CBAs from the weekend (26):
Macrae 25/26
Marshall 23/26
Windhager 18/26
Garcia 17/26
Z Jones 9/26
Stocker 8/26
Keeler 2/26
Sinclair 1/26
Owens 1/26

I think Windhager had an average game, but he shouldn't be dropped anytime soon and he has played some great defensive roles in the last two years. It may be a different story when Steele and Philipou are full time on-ballers. I love Z Jones versatility and he has been great this year.

Our round 1 thrashing illustrated that we can't play two rucks, so Boyd will ever only play AFL when Marshall is injured.

Windhager was good.

Kept CR to his lowest tally of the year. Was hard around the contest and applied a lot of pressure.

I'm personally looking forward to the day when we don't need to use him as a tagger.

I think he can be a really good mid in his own right.
Until we get one of our own like JHF, Cripps, Neale etc we have to try and nullify their best players through tagging.

There are only so many spots in the midfield. Steele will come back. One of Trav, Jones or Garcia will likely have to make way.

As I said, I would have Trav out of the side this week but Windhager would be next in line for me at the moment. Jones has been great so far this year, even if his numbers on the weekend were down.

I would rather see Garcia retain a spot over Windhager right now. Somebody is going to have to make way for Pou when he comes back also.

Windy gave away a 50 that lead to a goal at the start of the match, the made about 4 panicked decisions in a row at one point. Outside of Byrnes he was our least composed player all day.

Sure, granted he did some good things defensively. So did Trav and Garcia.

There are limited spots. Who would you have making way for Steele and Pou when he returns in a few weeks?

Ross mentioned in the presser how we were dominated in the air, especially in the second half and that we were a bit small... Even if King isn't anywhere near full fitness, his output will be far superior than Keeler's and they will manage his TOG around ~85%

We are really susceptible down back this week. Wilkie always takes Toby Greene, but i'm guessing he will have to play on Jesse Hogan and Caminiti takes Cadman. That leaves three big question marks:

  • Toby Greene (Assume they give Webster first crack)
  • Darcy Jones (does anyone have the speed on the fast break to take him DJ is elite in terms of spring speed and repeat sprints)
  • Stringer (Stocker took him last time we played Essendon)
Windy to Toby.

stocker to greene no brainer

Stocker turned his back on the ball a couple of times against JHF deep forward yesterday. Got away with it, may have even got a free, but I doubt he could do that against Toby and get away with it. Greene is a problem match up for us on Sunday.

I'm gonna be cruel...cos I am a troubled soul..

But frankly,
-I don't think Butler has been best 22 for two or three years. Now that we have some youngsters getting on a roll....why change? (As a sub..he could be great for a cameo) I suspect his injury isn't healed. I believe it is degenerative and I applaud his character and grit to play on.
-Henry has played well for two short patches in his career for us. He was a liability when he came back from injury underdsone last year, and after his second injury, which I thought was serious at the time (I can't even remeber what it was now) , it seemed like the kind of injury you can recover from, but you might not be as sharp as you were. If he comes back and is sluggish, it will cost us. Sure he is class, and in a different league to say Ronnie Byrnes, but Ronnie gets plenty of it. Will Henry? I would be wanting to see some miles in the Zebra's colours first. Hard miles.

It’s good you’re not part of selection committee then 😂

Webster seems the obvious choice to me.
