End of the day, attempting to top up with Taranto and Hopper failed spectacularly so they were left with no choice but to cash in on anything with a pulse.
I know you need to sell a message to players but I never understood those choices, you pull 3 cups and hit the end of your run, the smart play is to start a soft rebuilt around a good core - they chose to gamble on two players that had never been able to take their club to the pointy end. Gambled a potential short rebuild on an extreme long shot for mine.

If it works mate. Plenty of super drafts have come and gone and left teams with nothing of value at the end of it. They've gambled a hell of a lot on this one draft, it doesn't take too many misses to end up wallowing for years. They were shit this year and have traded just about every competent player on the list. Could end up in a big, big hole like we did.
It's not comparable to us at all. We delisted our old players, they traded their players that were worth something. They had a swag of first round picks in the first draft of their rebuild.

Heat of the moment. Reckon there'll be a fair bit of salt dealt out in hindsight once we see who exactly the Tigers net with our pick next year.
Personally, over the next few years when we’re going deep into finals I couldn’t give a shit who Richmond pick up with our first rounder in 2025.

Most of our 14 first/early second rounders will be at 80+ games, we’ll be attracting top end FA talent that will make other clubs hate us even more and Harry Sheezel will be the best player in the game.

Agreed, I was talking about supporters of other clubs seething at missing out on our pick that we offered to everybody come the 2025 draft.

I'm still intrigued why we might've passed on Lalor had it flipped around.

Wrapt we got our #1 option anyway though. Similar to Cadman/Sheezel outcome.

We rated Jagga, Draper and Tauru higher.

1. FOS
2. Jagga/Draper
3. Jagga/Draper
4. Tauru
5. Lalor/Langford/Smillie

That's intriguing. Tauru especially.

Is there a doubt we couldn't shake on Lalor?

I'm not sure exactly what north thought, but talking to others, I think a lot of clubs had concerns about Lalor's body/resilience noting he has already had a stack of soft tissue and low back/hip injuries. Also queries as to whether he becomes a genuine mid at AFL level or more a Cam Rayner impact player across half forward.
