Situation heading into 2025 draft.

Prestia and KMac both probably finishing up, Lynch possibly too. A host of others uncontracted and unlikely to get a new contract, so will open up more draft spots
.
We will likely have 2 picks in the top 5 next year, so, all things being equal, will probably draft a couple of highly rated mids.

List is being improved all the time - us armchair experts just have to stay the course........

imagine the umpiring if we rise up before the cfl's liking

Season free kick tally:

for
- zero point zero zero
against - thirty seven thousand four hundred and eighty two.

AFL statement - we have informed Richmond they need to be more disciplined. By the strictest reading of their season we feel if anything the umpires have erred in Richmond's favour to the tune of at least three thousand free kicks. They have informed us they are looking into improving their discipline and in the meatime we can gagf.

I don’t necessarily buy into the idea that you must have a midfield made up of primarily quick players.
Look at the teams that have recently won premierships.
Geelong do not have a midfield that I have ever heard being referred to as quick.
Collingwood do not have a quick midfield especially when u think most of it is a year off retirement.
Brisbanes midfield won the premiership off the backs of Neale, Ashcroft, Ahh chee and McCluggage. I wouldn’t call any of those players blistering in their ability to cover the ground. They are exceptional at winning the ball, quick at making effective decisions with ball in hand and good disposal so rarely turn the ball over. The result is winning contested ball, quick ball movement giving the opponent very few options to stop or slow their ball transition.
Midfielders that are explosive are what u want with a good kick and they an actual football brain giving them the ability to make good decisions quickly.

next year we'd have to be looking at some free agents. the amount of salary cap space we should have is enormous. I know we will have a lot of quality youngsters that will be need to be paid but not the big dollars for a while. reckon the club has a plan. 8 quality this year, 2 quality next year and 1-2 free agents and there is 1/2 the team in 2 years

Looking at that list, there are going to be many tough decisions at the end of the season. Eighteen players, almost half the list needs to be decided upon.

Clarke, Banks and Brown will probably be extended. I'm guessing McIntosh & Dow will be delisted. Sonsie needs to make this year his or else he is looking down the barrel. Prestia and Lynch will depend on injury and form. At this stage, I'm thinking they may both go on for another year to teach the kiddies.

The next part is real tricky. Too many players we just have not seen enough of in the seniors to make an informed decision. Bauer, Fawcett, Young, Green, Gray, Trezise, Smith and Blight. These are the players in my opinion that need the most playing opportunities in 2025.

As for Hayes-Brown and Colina, who knows?

Just not enough love for this post, kudos!:thumbsupemoji:

A very long winded ramble, basically saying Blair did good.

This is just the second step, we had 5 picks inside 30 3 years ago. A couple more next year and look out.

I too would have loved having Lindsay, Berry and Oliver, they were the best kicks of the crop.

We'll round out the list over the next couple of years and will be a force sooner rather than later
If thats what you took out of it great. Im not sold on all of his picks and i certainly think we left better rated players on the board having reached for some talls at some of our picks.

I also think trading out all those picks to Brisbane for pick 20 was a mistake.
But hey we cant get everything we want.

Look what North paid for pick 27, I don’t think we did too badly. Like you I was surprised by the amount of talls we picked but Blair has explained the strategy and we just wait and see. You must admit we have plenty of options now to look at and if we end up with a premiership spine we can fill the other gaps in as we go starting with two early picks next year.

How the **** can it get worse ?
it'll get better cos we are shite now, then it will come back if we start contending too fast for their liking

they have a severe Richmond complex

Doesn't cap trading come in next year? I think we will trade cap for picks next year if we can.
Load up in another pre Tassie draft with as much good talent as we can and use the cap when we need it in a few years.
We may also front end a few like Balta, Hopper and Tarranto so we aren't carrying as much of their wage later on.
