Was privy to a conversation at the 150th launch end of 2019 where George said you basically can’t have any impact serving on this board, so it’s interesting he’d be potentially having another go at it.
My uninformed guess is then he was the lone guy pushing shit uphill (getting rid of Hinkley). With Warren clearly in that camp, perhaps he's thinking if there are two of them, it won't be so easy to ignore them. Especially if both are on the football committee. If you get both the actual successful footballers recommending ditching Ken early in 2025 when a rough patch is hit, not so easy if it's just 'Oh that's crazy Warren. Just wave a face mask near him and he'll run away', so they can ignore his football acumen.

They're all politicians and if they're not they will be eaten alive by the politicians. Sadly, I think that's what is happening to Tredders, too much trust and not enough ability to politically manoeuvre. He has an agenda that the members want but it is frozen out of the broader agenda by the stone killer politics.

Let's be honest, he was brought in as an agent of change and nothing has changed. Oh wait, Luke Kelly was sacked to be replaced by Cam Sutcliffe. Not a tick.

The guy who could engineer change is one of the Shahins who run Peregrine. Those guys get things done, they work with governments and they squeeze the life out of their opposition. And at least some of them are Port supporters. Don't really expect any of them to either run or be appointed, they would terrify Koch.

My main hope for Tredders is to get things done for the footy department but there is a Game of Thrones sized wall to breach and he has to get better at playing the game.

Tredders was always going to be pushing the proverbial uphill. One member, albeit a former champion, is not going to get a lot done when confronted with the new age corporates who populate the PAFC Board.

I am probably not telling you anything new but George Fiachii has a history of confronting this Board and that is why Koch successfully ran Wanganeen against him a few years back. He tried the same tactic with Bruce Abernethey against Tredders but it did not work.

If Members want to see any significant change they would be better placed with both Tredders and Fiacchi on the Board. These two will still be grossly out numbered but at least they are not lone voices and could generate multiple alternate viewpoints in the media.

The other point is that Tredders and Fiacchi have actually played the game unlike most of the faceless corporates who sit on our Board. That should be of some value.

What good reason would the powerbrokers have for not legislating a return to full member control with the board within the next say 5-10 years?

Their answer up until now has been that we don't want a board full of past players.

Which, obviously, is a crock of shit, because something like 13 of the last 16 premiers have full member controlled boards and vote in balanced boards.

With momentum starting to build for member elected boards for PAFC and AFC once we hit 2028 and the SANFL debts are repaid, it is imperative that someone with a strong belief in an independent PAFC is on the ticket.

The next three years are crucial.

To help the AFL retain its 2/3rds majority of club votes on AFL matters.
They have a solid block of 5 on top of the "Big Vic Clubs".
Keep control of the AFL where it is.

So when do PAFC stop being one of the pawns?

As others have posted fear and comfort.

Fear that they may not be re-elected and comfort in the fact that their board position is safe as long as they stay inside with Koch.

Power cant be given it must be taken, according to Michael Corleone.

People dont like having power taken away from them, or just giving it away

And both were great servants of the club & top footballers. They also wanted to win a 🏆.

They don't trust us. They don't want to let go of control. They like to please the Afl who would not want majority member control. Currently the Afl can pull the puppet strings any time they like. Far harder to do that with a member controlled board.

Definitely not my strong point. I actually hate playing politics. I'm only interested in honest conversations.
The problem with most organisations is that the people who love politics aren't the ones you want running the show and the ones who hate it (but can do it) are.

No, she resigned

Kathy Nagle is still the CEO on the Western Hospital website. Their web site obviously needs updating or I need to get the latest WH web page. Last I heard the Western Hospital was in receivership which is pity. They probably have a bunch of accountants running the place in anticipation of a white knight on the horizon. It is a sad state of affairs for sure.
