I don't know about you blokes, but Imo, Rance should have got equal to the punishment of Sam Day.

At least a bump is somewhat in the spirit of the game, an elbow to the back of the head most definitely isn't. Especially in today's coward punch culture, what message does that send?

"Hit them in the back of the head while their down lads, as long as you apologise everything will be fine"

**** off

What did Sam Day do????

We're all entitled to our opinion on here so I'm not being critical, but this did make me laugh on the Port board:

"Something has happened in the last 18 months so profound it's critically damaged the culture and confidence of this group. It's either a flash in the pan incident, or something more systemic - like a shit house assistant coach or two.

Either way, it could (and should) be relatively easily fixed."

So the thing that's happened is "profound" and has "critically damaged" the group - but it's easily fixed!:D:p

The weird thing about Port Adelaide is that we are hearing a bucket load of denials on every problem suggested. When someone suggests its the coaches, the coaches are ruled out as the problem. When someone suggests the players and injuries, the players work ethic and injuries are ruled out. When disharmony within the playing group is mentioned again its ruled out. So at the moment they are effectively a club with no problems yet a lot of problems, if their spin is supposed to be believed. There is a real lack of leadership coming from Port Adelaide on this issue. There were real problems last season which the run on at the end of the season just wall papered over the cracks.

Yes the realists over there are pointing out that since the end of 2014 they have a slightly worse than 50/50 success rate. That can't all be the absence of Ryder, which has only happened this year

They are a good chance to beat Richmond with Rance and possibly Riewoldt out (Trengove not such a big loss for them imo) which could paper over the cracks again

Meanwhile, Port's coaching staff seek for some quick answers:

If they keep singling out Voss as the issue, then that's on Hinkley who continues to either A. Listen to him or B. Give him free reign over a non-functioning midfield.

You think "turd burglar" is insensitive not hateful? Really?

I would genuinely hope that any friends I have in the gay community find "turd burglar" neither insensitive or hateful.

I think it is a pretty absurd thing to say, and if anyone was truly hateful they would come up with a phrase that doesn't make people giggle.

Not sure how old you are, but there used to be a cartoon where a big dog used to stroll around and a little dog used to follow it around lapping up everything it said. I think this an apt description for these 2.

I remember

This is however the stupidest thing ever said in the history of the interwebz. For that OneGreatClub we salute you!

I love how they're all of the opinion that they should be dominating like it's 2014 and can't see the woods from the trees. Rather than believe that there are serious issues at the club they all collectively have their heads in the sand believing simple superficial fixes are all that's required. "if we just get rid of Voss, we dominate", "It's all Bassett's fault", "if we have had Ryder, Schulz and Monfries, it would be a different story".

Hopefully it takes their supporters ages before they actually clue in on what's really going on.

When i was doing my apprenticeship many years ago (in the 80's) a turd burglar was an "affectionate" term used to describe plumbers.

Not sure when it morphed into a homophobic comment, it was originally used for plumbers as us sparkies were called wire jerkers.

You younger generation changing the meaning of words, I also liked been gay back in the day - now my grandkids look at me strangely when i tell them i am feeling gay.

Gay hasn't been happy for a while. Are you nudging the 90's mark Rocket?

Yes
OneGreatClub claiming that Don Pyke was deriving his strategy from Janus heat maps :D

Apparently Janus stumbled onto something revolutionary, but unfortunately someone told Pyke about it and now he's using Janus' heat maps to dominate the AFL.

I couldn't even make up shit this funny

:D

It keeps getting better.

Below is an email sent from Keith Thomas to Port members, I believe earlier today (apologies if already posted):

"Dear Members and Supporters,

The world’s best golfer Jack Nicklaus once famously said…

“It takes great courage and skill, to play badly, well.”

In the context of what we as a club are experiencing at the moment, it’s a profound insight.

No athlete or sporting team is immune to difficult times. Losses are part of the package.

But it’s how you handle the tough times that define you as a club, as a team and as individuals.

When things aren’t going to plan, it’s not easy to pull yourself up to see what’s really going on.

Emotions run high, and distractions are everywhere!

But our focus this week has been crystal clear.

Brutal honesty.

Accept responsibility.

Do something about it. Action not words.

I thought Kenny nailed it on Saturday night when he said that ‘never giving in’ doesn’t just apply when you’re coming from behind and winning. In fact, the opposite is true.

The real test for our club is can we stay true to our beliefs when things aren’t going well?

Externally, our commitment is being questioned. Fair enough.

For Port Adelaide, ‘playing badly, well’ is all about sticking together and staying true to our values as a club, come hell or highwater!

Of course it’s about putting your head over the ball when it’s your turn to go.

But it’s also about knowing that no matter how dire the situation looks, our club won’t back off until we find a way to win again.

I’ve said it many times before, and I’ll say it again…the Port Adelaide Football Club is full of people with character, and is supported by an army of members and supporters who care deeply about what happens to this place.

We will not rest until we’ve got it right. And we’ll do it together.

See you at the ‘G.’

KT"
