Flankers who can use it across half back, (Blakey type)

Key forward who can crash packs and has size. Gerryn might be the guy.

I'll say this all year, let RFK & Rosa play 4D chess while everyone else play checkers

• Essendon finish bottom 4, Melbourne finish bottom 2
• Essendon let Draper leave and gain band 1 compensation
• Essendo could hold pick 2 (Melbourne), pick 4 (Essendon first), pick 5 (Draper compensation)

- Essendon take Cooper Duff-Tytler (pick 2), Willem Duursma (pick 4), Noah Hibbins Hargreaves (pick 5)

Add to that those 2 x second rounders (Essendon's & St Kilda's), and looking increasingly likely more than 1 Category B rookie could be available (El-Achkar, Adam Sweid, Alex Alessio possible as a Cat B father/son?)

You know what the issue is?

There is a pretty high possibility that in 8 years, we'll look at this post and scoff at the fact that we thought any of those players were anything close to Reid when he wins another premiership for whatever club he is playing.

Players like Reid don't just come every draft. We saw what Saad's run off half back did to reinvigorate the side. We saw how 5 mins of DustyDanger/Fyfe domination lifted the whole side. Literally 3-5 mins of Oliver and Petracca dominance in the 2021 grand final turned a close game into a 70+ point win in a quarter.

That's what Reid can do and we miss the two years of him finding his feet at AFL level.

If Reid requests a trade to Essendon, then Essendon will facilitate the trade. Otherwise, we're dumber than I thought.

He's OOC and met with a few clubs over the off-season.

If GCS have a successful year there's plenty of reasons for him to stay up north, but it's not outside the realm of possibility that he'll leave with a compelling offer.

Time will tell. At the moment I don't reckon he's going anywhere.

Good player but not really seeing Merrett in him

From what I’ve seen of seh as a defender, which isn’t a whole lot admittedly. But he looks as if not more panicked than McGrath with ball in hand, slams in on the boot as soon as he gets it. I’d much rather see if he can be another quick pressure small forward, who can also take a grab.

Mmm... I mean I'd be interested to see how he goes there, but therun and carry made us look so much more dynamic.
ADJ is still to return. I'm happy to see more and assess what we've got with him first.

If Rowell gets traded, he's absolutely commanding multiple first rounders.

I’m not disputing that… of course he’ll demand 2 1st rounders at least
But unless you’re in the window it’s not a deal I’d be doing. Hasn’t got the body of work for mine to be giving up those assets. I’d 100% sign him if he was a fa, not as a trade though. He’s started a lot of seasons strong and faded towards the end of the year.

Maybe. I would love to see him rotate through the wing and midfield at maybe a 50/50 split.

Problem is that he is out only big explosive mid.

Exactly we also have a pretty good wing conbination in Duursma/Martin as it is. Theyre also roles that can be sorted more cheaper. Archie Roberts was also excellent on the wing, although our lack of half back and especially left footers down back, mean hes probably required there until/if thats fixed soon

...but why would he leave? None of the 'get Rowell' faction are answering this question.

In 8 years, Reid could be playing for his third club like Jake Stringer is.

Going Rowell may get you to a finals win, but im not sure with what weve done with Reid, Cox, Perkins, Hobbs, Tsatas its enough to get you all the way with our current list

Rowell doesn’t have the strings to his bow that Harley Reid does. Rowell just leapfrogs Caldwell tsatas and Hobbs in their roles. Reid can change a game in a multitude of positions.

Reid reminds me so much of danger, who wasn’t really a top player until his 5th season.

i'm usually in the stick to the rebuild path camp... but I'm lured by Harley Reid though, he's a great prospect and still young. Essendon have now built quite a few years of taking first round picks in the draft. I've been underwhelmed.

Really depends on if Rosa thinks he can do better with multiple picks then Reid
