People need to reset expectations about what Day has to offer 2 games in. My only concern is him getting played off by defenders due to lack of pace. Otherwise his size and contested ability is sorely needed and I thought he was good last night.
How long do we have before we can say it's a Flawed experiment

doodee was listed as 1-2 weeks at the start of the week. Every chance he plays against Richmond on the weekend. Can’t wait to see how he goes if he does play. Hoping starce is back for gather round. Then it’s a full strength defence minus kiddy.
I think that’s when we will start to see how we go. We should improve over the next few weeks, iron out some kinks …. Next 4-5 weeks going to be exciting.
I cannot see Doodee playing AFL against Richmond, nor in the immediate future. Needs some time in the VFL and Lester is doing his role very well. I hope the club is really cautious with Starc.

Harris is a marvel.

NO other defender in the AFL kills the dangerous air ball like HA does. That punch is invariably brilliantly timed to maximum effect. Add in his almost flawless intercept marking and you would think he would be a regular in the AA.

But no. With McGovern always "picking himself" (apparently) and Freo's Luke Ryan a "compelling" selection, Harris had to make way for Weitering last year.

"Tough choice" according to the AA Committee

Apparantly
Agree with your comments regarding Harris, and I think he was desperately unlucky not to be named in the team, but I also liked that the selectors picked Weitering who plays week in week out as a lockdown fullback. Harris should have been selected ahead of McGovern...

Agree. Lester was forced into the twos whilst Adams and Gardiner were ahead of him. He has played career best football, and deserves to be selected ahead of Doedee whilst his form merits it.

Fages will stick with Day for sometime, especially as we are winning.
What are the options;
*2 tall set up (possibly with Cam as the third tall), but that is still expecting a lot from a second year player (even though Morris is good).
*Fort and Oscar rotating as the third tall with ruck duties, but potentially might make the forward line a bit too tall and slow.
*Gardiner as the more robust tall forward, but perhaps too short.
*Payne playing as the deep forward (but that impedes on the defensive structure).
*Smith playing forward and ruck (I don't mind this).

Deodee needs to earn his spot through the VFL, and even then Lester has to lose his spot (assuming that’s the position swap which it may not be).
Deodee hasn’t played AFL footy for 2 years, has spent that time in recovery, and is coming into a new system.
It’s great to have pressure for spots, but Froggy is now proven - he’s a better player than the guy who was behind Adams & Gardiner a couple of years ago.

First crack - disappointing analysis of our game as usual. I thought we would get something given we played a big Victorian club.
I want to hear why the master coach Scott's team feel apart in the 3rd quarter. No, we had a 15 seconds grab on McDamage (so 'clever') and that the Cats backline didn't play well. They need Stewart back - no shit Sherlock, he's their best player. IMO their backline actually played well, it was their midfielders and forwards who often failed to apply defensive pressure in the second half.

Doedee could slot into the role Starc plays as well if he’s going to be out for an extended period.

At the beginning of tonight's show, Montagna did state that the Lions are the team to beat, and spoke briefly about the self believe within the team and the challenges the group has faced (Joe retirement, interrupted season with the cyclone, players to come back etc). How Lions are coming from behind, and praised our dour defence in the second half of games. He wouldn't be surprised if we end up 8-2 in a couple of months. As for the actual coverage of the game and the analysis non existent as usual.

No it’s impossible, McGovern is McGovern and so he picks himself, just ask one of the selectors in Cornes.

Fagan is on Fireball this morning on Sen I'm not expecting too much respect and to be massively disappointed with this considering Kingy and Kane both have a massive problem with Fages, and both were trying to get him sacked for flog Chris Scott

Joey has always shown Us respect and rates Fages as a top 4 coach He's the one on 360 last year that had faith in Us turning it around when we were 3 and 5 and a draw where king said we were done and didn't expect us to even make the 8

Coleman still 5-6 weeks away according to Fages on SEN this morning.
Had a little chat to Kiddy at the West Coast game and I asked how his knee was going and after being very hesitant he says, its going good.
I knew straight away that it wasn’t going quite so good.
