Autopsy 2025 AFL Round 3: Saints thrash Tigers

The other thing with the Dogs game, is I reckon Hammer is a pretty good matchup for the Darcehole's son.

We should beat Port if we're fair dinkum (they were a steaming dog turd on Thursday night), good contest against against GWS, all of a sudden that Dogs game becomes a really big night for us.

Haha, no way.. there would be a bloodbath revolt…..

Seriously though, happy Jack is playing on and doing really well with the Sainters. A smart player and would still be handy with us.

But he wasn’t getting field time and I can understand why he wanted to move on to a club that could give him that,
Said from the start, it was a win win trade for both clubs.
Saints got a required quality inside mid, Dogs wanted to blood more kids in the guts, saved the difference between Macrae's contract and Kennedy's, and you got a bloke that was instrumental in the Dogs beating Carlton.
One of those good news trades.

Noticed on your board the thread practically calling Sanders a bust.

What’s the go there?

Also with Croft & Busslinger?

Bit of poachable young talent at the Kennel.

Buss hasn’t been given a chance to play, however reported that he’s still not there yet. Croft similar.

Not sure but some think Buss may look elsewhere if he can’t get a crack at a senior spot. Croft I believe would stay.

Yeah it was, at the end of the day Jack has to do what’s good for Jack. I still think Jack would have been handy to have against Collingwood last week in the absence of Bont & Treloar.

Anyway, best of luck to Jack and your team this season.

Really pleased to see Jimmy getting some love here. At half time I said to the person I went to the game with that if we won, a lot of praise would (rightfully) go to Sincs, Macrae, Higgo etc., but that Jimmy has been absolutely massive.

Guys in his position rarely get the praise they deserve, but Jimmy has been one of the first names on the team sheet for a very long time.
I'm wrapt to see Jimmy getting some praise. I reckon I've shouted out as many "well done Jimmy" as I have for anyone else on our list over the past few years. He's the cleaner. Mops up on aisle 5 before anyone else knows there's a mess about to happen. Game after game consistency. A very good argument that we missed finals last year because of his suspension.

He’s more of a utility/interceptor, and probably not quick enough for the zippy smalls.

Maybe our NGA kid…?

Watching the Dragons/Jets game at Moorabbin.

Fincher has kicked into the man on the mark, rode a bloke into the ground and given away a free, then kicked long to a 2-on-1 against… 😬

But he’s clearly their get out kick from defence. Well built young kid; strong arse and legs.

But we shouldnt get Bergman because we'll have him instead!

There's nothing less impressive than shopping for a Premiership team. It was great when Ryan Griffen left bulldogs for a flag, only to miss out on one. Deledio is the same.

No respect for any of those guys.
The most spectacular bad decision that comes to mind is Nathan Buckley leaving a "developing" Brissy(the Bears in those days) to go to "premiership hopeful's" Collingwood.

He reasoned that he had more chance of a flag at the Pies than with the Bears....who became the Brisbane Lions a few seasons later.

Cue Brissy doing a 3 peat in that period.

Whoops.

I think, realistically, that above is our “Best 18” with an extended bench of hopefuls who haven’t looked overawed.

It will be very interesting to see what the club does once we’re approaching a fully fit list.
That really highlights the depth we are now compiling

You too.

You can't trade thinking injuries may occur. Bont and Treloar are big outs however injuries are part of the game.
Membrey would have been handy for us up forward as we had only Jack Higgins for R1, the rest were out.
It's what it is.

Small sample size but shows you why some posters were confident we could replace battles output. Challenge for Caminiti is to now produce this output regularly and become as reliable as Josh was.
They play different roles. Hammer was more dougals replacement.

We still miss battle. Wilkie was playing part of his role albeit he wasn't pushing high up.

Young players not seen in a Saints jersey as yet.
Boxshall
Barrett
Said
Tauru

There is some talent there
Hastie
Garcia
Wilson
Collard
O'Connell
Hall

Absolute handful of games all showing great signs.
Our recruiting and drafting has been canny, drafting, you look like not making it, you are out, Van Es and Hotton (dropped from North VFL team yesterday), Campbell, Bonner, even after 19 games.
The delisting is ruthless and will continue. Would say Heath and Arie need to step up. Boyd as well if we land TDK.

Port next week has to be a game we win.

Accept we lose to the Giants.

Dogs back at Marvel. Henry King Howard Pou Clark Stocker fit?

Lions don’t scare me as much without Daniher. But that’s a likely L.
Who was the journo after round 1 tweeting Richmond v saints was 50/50?

The media are so reactive and it’s hard to digest some media jumping back on us!!

I’ve said all along wait until rounds 4-5 until judgement.

If we can snag one of the next 2 that’s a tick.

We have done remarkably well with our injury list!

Steele a late out yesterday spelled big danger game in previous years.

But what ever happens in the next 2 games, just play good footy and don’t get pumped!

Dogs away is basically a home game for us at marvel.
Freo - in Melbourne - should win
Lions - in Melbourne hard game - but I don’t believe the lions are going as they were last year.

It’s an exciting time to be a saints fan, and I’m sure free agents and other players are noticing the last 2 wins!

Now resign NAS and windy please 🙏

Richmond really collapsed like a true spoon side

There was a lot of moments and goals that wouldn't have happened against even a super average team last night

Good signs tho

Very excited for the development of Collard

Caminiti move looks to be huge

Hall is very handy

Garcia a really unique player in the making

Have we delisted any of the kids Ross has blooded yet?

(Genuinely can’t remember)

I think he has done a very good job of balancing the blooding of youth and the competitiveness.

What we just need however… is another 2-3 to go from what they are into the Owens or Nas levels.

Caminiti looks an obvious one now that it’s a very simplified ask for him.

Pou is the great white hope.

Travaglia and Tauru could be anything but it’s still very early days as to the limit of what that is.
Only Peris I think.

He called himself the dirty back pocket player but that is being quite negative to himself. He is as hard as, kicking and disposal first class, quick and brave. Hope he hangs around for a few more years.
