The bloke who was spending all week asking for Collard to be dropped due to lack of pressure… watch the chase down tackle for [emoji638][emoji640] hours straight 🤣

So you thought Lances pressure last week was good , if you did you were watching the wrong person , sure he is exciting and all of us hope the kid makes it and too his credit THIS week his pressure was a lot better in all aspects of the game.

Excellent win. It was great to see us put our foot own and really destroy a team. While it's only early, getting our percentage back over 100 after that Adelaide thumping sets us up nicely.

- Sinclair doesn't get talked about enough as one of the elite players in the comp.

- Macrae is the best trade we've done in years.

- Hall was super impressive, almost the perfect half forward games from him. He lead well up the wings all day, was sure in his decision making and executed his skills very well. The two goals were just icing on top of an excellent performance. If he keeps performing like this, he's keeping his spot once the injured players return.

- Jones moving into the middle in the 2nd half was pivotal. It felt like we were getting bullied a bit in the middle when we had both Trav and Hugo in there at the same time but Jones going inside changed that dynamic. It's great to see him back up last weeks game with another good performance and that he can impact in multiple rolls.

- Caminiti transition to defence has been excellent. Lynch is still a formidable opponent so to get the job done on him was not easy. He's still learning and won't win every week, but I hope to see him stay in defence for a long time.

- We are going to miss Webster when he retires. Been such a reliable player for a long time. He's not the type to ever get much external acknowledgment but we've been very fortunate to have a player who can reliably defend as well as him while also be a good distributor.

- Took Sharman some time to warm into the game but his set shot kicking makes such a difference to the forward make up. Owens is a gun but you never know where the ball will end up when he kicks it. If he can improve that area of his game, he is going to be scary for opposition defenders.

Track watchers all preseason talked up Hall. I couldn't see it as much, until the match sim and contested stuff started..

Glad to say, as usual, I was off on my assessment.
Seems to me a real current day 'Hawthorn' type player, sharp, clean by hand and foot, good pressure, and knows where to run to get to space. Bob's up for a goal or two.

Really like him and Byrnes on the wings. They run both ways, get back in defence and gives an option coming out of defence and in attack.
We have done this really out of necessity basically missing a forward line and even dropping Hammer back in defence as well.

Have been pleasantly surprised by Mason Woods move to the forwards. Always thought he was played out of position at North and we had found his spot on the wing.
Seems his muscle memory has kicked in and he is playing very good footy up front.

A really hard stretch of 4 easily losable games coming. If we can half it, I will be satisfied.
Yes it was against Richmond who are in major rebuild, however it wasn't like we had our full team in and no kids.
After the Port preseason and the game against Adelaide, my confidence was shaken after reporting positively most of the preseason. Good to see some it wasn't too misplaced.

Few things that were pleasing to see:

- The whole team trying to get Lynch to blow a fuse

- Owens giving a goal to Collard in the goal square

- Hall being able to hit targets by foot at full speed

- Macrae giving it to the opponent after he tackles them
One of the media said that from the moment when Wilkie started annoying Lynch, he only had 2 more touches for the rest of the game.

Put him off in a big way.

Trav had a very good game. There's something about him. Maybe biased as he looks like he could be roos kid. He's proving me wrong.

Tall mid, and the way he holds his head at an angle when willing himself on when tired actually reminded me of a mature Brendan Goddard

Jones has usually looked good when he is fit, problem is he has been very injury prone.
Gives us a point of difference with his speed.

Is making much better decisions these days too. Even up to [emoji637][emoji[emoji6[emoji640][emoji638]][emoji640][emoji640]] months ago he would get caught in possession a lot when trying to run out of trouble… doesn’t happen anymore

Yeah I do.

Had a great viewing of him applying very good pressure last week.

It’s not all about tackles and highlight HTBs. He did a very good job ensuring the ball wasn’t waltzing out of our F50 that way it did in Adelaide.

Why does it need to be deeper? My point was it’s insane to start trashing those who thought Collard wasn’t going to make it on the back of 2 games. And Butler is indeed more experienced and a better player.
Collard was also a first round pick (in the longest first round in history).

Point is that anytime a first rounder starts to flash. People just want to see them in action. 12 months ago Butler was starting to look less effecting and it’s a huge need for us right now ( a good small forward)

Just on the bolded stuff, I reckon Hall's ceiling is Dylan (?) Moore at Hawthorn. Really natural forward of the ball player who has good agility, good speed, a nice mark and knows how to kick or set up a goal. If he could become that player, we'd be pinching ourselves having picked him up in the midseason.
Also on that, we've been nothing short of amazing at picking up mature aged players over the last 6-8 years. If Hall and Caminiti becomes part of our best 23, then that is Marshall, Wilkie, Sinclair, Sharman, Caminiti and Hall that have all come as mature agers from either the SSP, the preseason, or the rookie draft. That's a quarter of our best team, and doesn't included Stocker who I think was also an SSP signing, and Wood who we got as a DFA.

You can't have enough good small forwards in your side. Lance is really skilled, getting him Butler and Higgins in the side will be really dangerous and then Henry and Hall at half forward. Very nice.

Also interesting that after hearing so much about how Trav was just another half back he started his first game in the guts. Very, very promising debut.

We’ve got a bit of a dilemma coming up with players coming off
The injury list.
King 👑 for Dougie Keeler a given.
Butts for Lancey Boy??
Butts or Poo or Henry 💩 for Hally????
Pou for Zac??
Doogs for Hammer???
Clarke for Trav???? Probably
Dow and Carrol ???????
Tauru???

Not to many givens there. Form and injury will most likely dictate any returns. It’s not gonna be easy, just ask Henry.
