Give or take some differences of opinion.
I’m loath to drop Hall or Collard though, in all honesty… and what about Clark, for example?

Good problems to have, and a world away from where we were post-Round 1.

Don't think Clark or Butler are best 22 now. Hard to argue with your team as best 22. Maybe Collard is ahead of Hall but it is a flip of the coin.

Horn Francis was not fined for staging? I thought the AFL was getting serious about that, and this was as blatant as they come...
He’s been through enough.
Being selected at pick one by North and then having to throw tantrums to be traded to Port, then being booed.
Have some empathy.

If we bring back Howard, King, Phillipou, and Henry, plus the skipper, then, using this week’s side as the base;

B: Webster - Caminiti - Stocker
HB: Sinclair - Wilkie - Wang.Mil
C: Hill - Windhager - Wood
HF: Hall - Sharman - Wilson
F: Owens - Keeler - Higgins
Foll: Marshall - Macrae - Garcia

Int: Jones Byrnes Travaglia Collard
Sub: Hastie

Probably becomes something more like…

In: King Howard Henry Phillipou Steele
Out: Hastie Travaglia Byrnes Collard Keeler

B: Webster - Howard - Wilkie
HB: Sinclair - Caminiti - Wang.-Mil.
C: Hill - Windhager - Wood

Collard stays in ahead of Hall imo. We’ll always need at least one of Collard or Butler as the pressure fwd. Henry takes the Hall role as the more up-field fwd role

Howard makes our defence look so much more assured

Hall would be plenty stiff

Not sure anyone had us beat Geelong and the Power (in Adelaide!).

Have to go on with it now.
I have a level of confidence that we will go on with it now, based on our coach.

In the past I would be hoping we could go on with it, but fearing that a drop off would come.

I know that Ross will push really hard to make sure that doesn't happen.

We often pine for opposition players like Rozee.

Then NAS cruising away from him to give and get and kick a 3 step goal from 45m. It just just underlined his class.

We have an absolute beauty. A once in a generation talent I think.

And Collard showing signs that he could be equally enthralling.

So good.

Not just class, as Ross mentioned in a few pressers, the team has been hungry and working hard. There were a few times in that game Rozee refused to run hard defensively when we rebounded, then you compare to Nas, Hill, Collard, Higgins, Garcia, Stocker and co who run hard both ways even lifting again in that last quarter.

Our talent is there and starting to develop, but the effort and work rate was better from our players than Port. Compare us (clarity around Ross and multiple experienced assistant coaches) and them (experienced senior coach who has already been given the ass, an assistant waiting in the wings trying to apply his own coaching and tactics from the back seat), no wonder the "buy in" and effort is there for us at the minute.

And nice boy Nas is turning into a protective older brother too. Runs into the fray. He’s not the shy kid who looked like he was hating the spotlight any more.
I think NAS knows at this stage that he is a gun and now their is ownership that this side is his side, its Windhagers side, its Owen's side ect.

I reckon we have a pretty good culture going right now.

95% of our posters did as well
Last year I tipped Collard and Garcia to be best 22 by the end of 2024.

I only missed by the length of a preseason.

We could have taken Josh Sinn who was the guy beaten hopelessly in a marking contest against Collard with the match still on the line.
If i remember correctly, some had a melt because we passed on the Bayside boy Sinn for the twig from SA
