That thought did flash thru my head briefly at training yesterday.

Tomorrow's session will be very interesting.

None of the regular track watcher reviews were up yesterday so I thought I'd add a few quick observations.

I was a little late getting to the party yesterday but the first thing I noticed was big Maxy running around in the main group. (not to be confused with Mini Maxy.....aka....Max Hall who was doing his usual laser foot passes)

I was a little surprised at how well Big Maxy was moving.

For the time I was watching him......I didn't see any contested marking or full on contact.....it may have been occurring before I got to Rsea.

Not long after he was on the outer boundary with 2 trainers working on zig zag running.......sudden stops then taking off again.

Captain Jack was out there but not with the main group.

Brynes and Webby were not to be seen.

Viking and Henry going full throttle.

Dougs doing laps....heaps and heaps of laps.

Long after everyone had packed up and gone inside......Maxy was still on the far side of the oval with the trainers.....Dougs was still doing laps.

Felt like going out and waving a chequered flag as he ran past...yet again.

:):)
Great report as always Watto. Hope you're keeping well mate.

AFL lineup has Arie in for Steele on the extended bench. Final teams at 5pm

Bit surprised thought he moved alright but at the end of training he was talking to the fitness guy and seemed to indicate his knee was sore if he performed a certain movement.

Re King - agree with others - looks very proppy to me - very low confidence - I’d be very surprised if he played next week.

The Viking - certainly moves well and spent most of his time chasing Mitch & Wood. Needs to get a bit bigger - but that’s just a time in the gym issue. Hope I’m wrong but I’m not sure kicking is his strong point- something for him to work on. Was wearing one of those head bands Geelong players wear - gotta get rid of that!

I think Ross said he has dinner with Collard once a week.

So Ross is obviously happy to put in extra time into Collard. Most likely as he knows that Collard has the potential to be extra special if he can just apply himself more., including more consistently.

I don't think it's about application or consistency, I think it's more about Ross knowing he is a quiet somewhat shy kid away from home. He's acting almost like a father figure with metaphorical warm hugs.

A sign of a good coach is knowing what makes his players tick and from all reports Lyon is a master at that.

Are we sure it's not just that Ross is on a health kick and is making sure he has Collards for dinner once a week? Like Kale, a rich source of a number of vitamins.

With steele out does arie come into the team or just the squad or boxshall in ?
Probably Stocker for LOC and the rest is unchanged, Tobie the sub.

Match ups will be interesting though. Stocker would be good for SPP (or Jimmy, he's got plenty of mongrel in him); but assuming Stocker for SPP I would have had Jimmy on Rachele, but Rachele is injured.

Loaning Jimmy to GoldCoast to play against the crows would be overly generous anyway 🤷‍♂️

Seriously nervous with Steele out. Their midfield destroyed us in the practice match. They are all big bodied.

I would be considering Sinclair in there a lot this weekend. Usually I prefer him at half back but I think we may need a bit more experience and size.
Maybe Stocker comes in and plays a midfield role again (really like his mid craft), then we also have Jones and Sincs who can pinch through the middle. Windhager might also play big mid minutes again.

Steele out is a big hit to our chances of winning a tough fixture game, which was going to be hard regardless.

Good to see King out there today but didn’t get anywhere near it from what I saw. Doug has put on weight but that’s just my guess. Running along well enough.

Tauru certainly flies well and took a couple of good ones. Got Wood strongly in a tackle. I don’t think the speed of the game will be any issue for him one iota.

Henry out there but still rusty. Saw McLennan zip in after centre bounce off half back, scoop the ball in heavy traffic, and run forward into space to hit someone up. Reminded me of what Sincs can do. Something to work with there.

Caminiti down back then switched forward. Wilson showed good run with the ball. Ari with hard hands but getting to the fall of the ball. I think he reads it well.

Everyone extremely vocal. All coaches out there in the middle of everything. Some of the Sandy boys were good. Little guy with decent left foot. Blonde medium tall calm under pressure (reminds me of Kelleher, Liverpool’s second goalie). And tall skinny guy brown locks was useful marking/distributing down back.

I heard the instruction shouted NOW SHUFFLE from Jonesy, referring to back players, locked in a format, to transition same format to the other side, double time. Was impressive.
