Knight had 7 pressure acts as a defensive half forward as well. Not good enough.

When Matt Crouch is the leading pressure player on our team you know we weren't working hard enough
Sorry good pick up. Knight rotated through the F50 too so shouldn’t escape scrutiny.

So let's get this straight Champion Data pressure acts are as I understand it? No.4 garners 3.75 points, No.3 2.25 points, No.2 1.5 points, No.1 1.2 points
1. Corralling, when the player guards a space so an opponent is limited with his run and where he can go.

2. Chasing a player from behind and gaining ground.

3. Closing a player down from in front or to the side of his disposal

4. Physical pressure – when a player gets a hand to a player while he is disposing of the ball

No.4 garners 3.75 points, No.3 2.25 points, No.2 1.5 points, No.1 1.2 points

So from that I take it it's not the total number of pressure acts but the individual pressure act itself that is of most import?

Interesting looking at the AFL player ratings Rise/Decline from the 2018 season to the first 3 games in 2019...Plenty more in the DECLINE table than the RISE Table, Matt Crouch and you better believe it David Mackay in the RISE table - Decline Table : Paul Seedsman, Bryce Gibbs, Rory Laird and Eddie Betts especially their individual AFL player rankings, Laird down from 76 to = 266, Gibbs down from 77 to = 266, Betts down from 121 to 304, Seedsman who I think we can cut some slack down from 65 to 296.

Interesting to note Brodie Grundy not having a stellar season to date down from 2 to 72.

Obviously we take what he says with a grain of salt as this could have been the only instances for the whole game this happened but interesting none the less. We were all excited to see Brouch, Mrouch, Sloane & gibbs together however none of them are a defensive minded midfielder this is a role that Greenwood / CEY can play. Now I am no CEY fan but if we need him for better balance in the side then I can cop that. Interesting thought but we still won clearances and were -2 on centre clearances.

come on cornesy why would you tag arguably the best player in the AFL

No he was right the first time, we weren’t good enough with our forward pressure, no exceptions.

Eddie had 4 tackles and 13 pressure acts
Murphy 3 tackles and 12 pressure acts
Jones 1 tackle and 13 pressure acts

Put that up against Dalhaus:
7 tackles and 24 pressure acts.

No comparison. Our smalls not good enough - including Murphy

is there anyone else in the two's

Pyke wouldn’t know what a tagger is even if he had someone standing next to him agitating all day.

There's no denying Dangerfields' influence on the game, but I think Kane's "analysis" is pretty shallow (why does that not surprise me?).

Our shambolic forward movement / forward structure were much more significant factors. Without those failings, we win - regardless of Dangerfield.

"Analysts" like Kane like to pick out individual players / stats; it's simple. I've seen much better analysis on this board.

Yeah I agree- the much discussed non existent plan B needs to involve defensive set ups for mids though as if our offensive mids can't hit targets then we need to negate/reduce the other mids efficiency when clearing the ball.

Not surprised Seedsman is down. Our refusal to drop Mackay meant we had an extra runner in the side, so stuck Seeds in the role we had pencilled in for Douglas.
The thing that’s really dawned on me over the last season and a bit, is not just the fact old mate fills a spot without contributing, its the extent other players games are damaged by his existence.

Happened to Milera last year, now Seed.

Needs an Inquiry

We love like for like changes, while also ensuring that every senior player can play every position.

Baffling logic really

The most frustrating part about the continual selection of Mackay is he's picked based on his defensive running, which requires zero actual football ability. Just requires effort. Last week when Hawkins led up at the footy and marked 45 metres out, you could see Mackay sprinting back in to the defensive 50 to cover Selwood who was trying to push in to space. Even if Hawkins had decided to give up a set shot at goal, go quick and kick to Selwood 1 out against Mackay, what serious chance does he have to actually impact that contest. None. So huge amounts of trash that he's served up related directly to his football ability is ignored but his defensive running which requires no football ability is enough to continually reward him with games at AFL level. I'm sure we'd be able to find a marathon runner that can stick a tackle better than he can surely. And those guys run at 20km/hr for a couple of hours non stop. Our non-statistical defensive runner would be on another level. And a cat. B rookie to boot.

Give me more: Barrett calls out the players who need to lift

BRYCE GIBBS

Standout performance: In a very good career now spanning 256 matches with two clubs, Gibbs' best year can be traced back to 2014 - a best-and-fairest at Carlton under Mick Malthouse's coaching.

Where's he at? Had a solid first year with the Crows in 2018, but with Brad Crouch returning to the mix, now seems lost in being forced to play a stop-gap role across half-back. As he often does, got plenty of the ball last round against Geelong, but butchered his delivery. Needs to either embrace playing outside the engine room, or demand through words with coach Don Pyke – and ultimately actions – to be reincluded in the midfield mix.

Why the Crows need him at his best: The Crows recruited him as the icing on the cake after their Grand Final loss in 2017. They won't be returning to deep-September action unless Gibbs gets out of this lethargy.

Geez you’re like a dog with a bone aren’t you.

Suddenly Barrett the font of all knowledge? I don’t think so.

But keep dumping on 1 player - I’m sure he’s the cause of all our problems.

I'm most certainly not satisfied with Gibbs' input in 2019 and I'll bet I'm not the only one in that camp, it's bleedingly obvious on all 2019 indicators. He along with several other senior players need to lift big time if we're to arrest the slide.

No neither am I - but it’s the entire group. It’s not 1 or 2.

And there’s not any player that should be escaping the microscope - not one

To this point of our senior players I'd give Rory Sloane, Brad Crouch, Matt Crouch and Daniel Talia all a pass mark, Wayne Milera and Tom Lynch borderline pass marks. Those needing to lift significantly and consistently IMO Taylor Walker, Josh Jenkins Bryce Gibbs, Sam Jacobs, Eddie Betts, Brodie Smith, Rory Atkins, Rory Laird, Jake Kelly, David Mackay, Kyle Hartigan and Riley Knight.

So pretty much everyone bar Murphy?

Lol - righto
