Whatever mate. This conversation is really just a waste of time.

Just pay your airfare and B&B and quit sooking. Or don't go, if it's such a hardship. Watch it on TV.

Count your blessings you barrack for a club with no fans and that you can actually get hands on Grand Final tickets... unlike the tens of thousands of loyal Victorian members who miss out on a Grand Final tickets every year because their club's GF allocation is less than half (or a third) of their club membership.

How's that for being disadvantaged as a Victorian, you giant sook?
Unlike you, many of us don't get a choice. We're forced to watch our team on the TV on Grand Final day.

A lot easy when you don't pay thousands for air fares and accommodation

My point hasn’t changed since the start. Entitled never see it.
They never do. Like Max Gawn complaining that he wishes he wins a flag in a real GF at the G (not exact words, but meaning)

In fact, they go so far as to paint themselves victims once challenged.

In things like football, it’s harmless mostly. Thankfully.

Many of you? You’ve gone to 25 GFs in 28 years, what have you missed out on?

Surely you an MCG member who is getting tickets at the expense of those club fans you so emotionally have lumped yourself in with? And your entitlement is eating into their clubs allocation? Hypocrite.

Agree with the AFL phasing out AFL Members...perhaps that can be part of the next upgrade of Southern / Shane Warne Stand, just give it back to club members and public.

That would then mean that for the GF, can up the split to the actual club members to over 50k, so a minimum of 25k club members from each competing club get in at cost price.

You talk geography a lot so why don’t the AFL try to end up with a 50/50 crowd split/
You know as well as I do if a Vic club is playing a non vic club it ends up around a 65-35% split the vic way because if obvious reasons that the game is in Victoria.
Why not address that? 30K non vic team members get a ticket and 16 for the Vic side. Knowing that the Vic club members will find tickets as they always do.
Look it’s trying to find a way to get it right but I know once members tickets are gone it was almost impossible yo get a ticket from WA yet in Victoria it seemed quite east to find tickets to the game? How?

Just on the accommodation issue, I understand the difficulties compared with someone who lives in Melbourne, but it really is an issue of planning ahead.

If you wait until GF week and want to stay in a nice place near the G it will cost you an arm and a leg. But if you are willing to stay 30 min out of the city near a train line it is substantially cheaper. Melbourne has a great train network and it's easy to get into town. You can easily get half decent places for a hundred or so a night. I just took a quick look and for example you can get Thu/Fri/Sat night GF week in Box Hill about 25 min from town and a great place if you are into Asian food for $450 all up fully refundable. You could even stay in Geelong only an hour on the train.

Giants didn't even sell out their GF allocation in 2019 and gave some back, Swans struggled in 2022, had to do a 2nd allocation for any member who wanted one. Most Brisbane members who wanted one got one last year. WA members struggle to get flights. The only intertstate team that could possibly use 30k tickets is the Crows.

It's no easier finding tickets here than intertstate. Where did you get your 'easy' info from? You need the right membership or be connected to the right people.

You do understand that a home game is meant to be a game played at your home ground yeah?

Perhaps we could go the Port route, and do a deal with the ACT govt to play a couple of away games in the ACT, and then have the AFL give cash to a couple of the smaller Melbourne clubs to play their home games against us in Canberra.

And as I have been told in this thread, travel would count for the Pies, as the away team, but not for the Melbourne club selling their home game of course.
There's too much Vic bias in Aussie rules sport in general.

Carlton fans troll everyone when they won close games with umpires help.

Carlton lose a close game despite the umpires on their side and they melt.

This old chest nut. Next thing your gonna complain about the hawks 1988 season when the hawks won against the odds vs the demons.

Hawks only had one MCG game before the 1988 grand final or 1989 grand final?

If you are prepared to pay the premium price then Getting a ticket to the GF every year is pretty easy.
I am sure getting a face value ticket would be difficult.

Yeah, I am all for getting more tickets in hands of competing members.

In addition to getting rid of AFL members (which is heavily Victorian) another thing could push is to not give non-competing clubs any tickets (they get about 8k now) and again the majority of those would end up with Vic fans.

That could get it up to circa 60k available for club members, instead of the current 35k.

It is easily the best option for ALL club members.

Yeah it is only Carlton fans who enjoy a close win, and blame umpires when they lose.

🤪

A majority of the non competing clubs tickets end up in corporate packages and the clubs make a fortune on them. I agree that these need to be removed.

So the "solution" is make everyone pay even more for airfares, accomodation and tickets and ensure that barely any club members will even get a ticket.
Did you pay for air fares and hotels to go to the 2020 or 2021 grand finals?

Or did you live under the relaxed rule of Dan Andrews? LoL

As a Victorian.... Did you go to either the 2020 or 2021 grand finals?

If yes, did you pay for flights and hotels?

If no, did you enjoyed life under Dan Andrews?

A lot of WCE members missed out on tickets to the 2018 GF. The eagles have a huge membership tally and have no problem using their allocation - even with the price gouging on flights

AlL Clubs could make some of the money back by increasing the number of GF ticket gauranteed high priced memberships they can then sell.

Fans pay for those and only then get them if their club makes it, a win for ALL club members.

Imagine how many more Ealges members would miss out if it was a rotated GF in Queensland at the GABBA.

Soz WC, you get just 7k tickets for your club members.

That is the "solution" WA fans want.

Again.... You failed to answer my question.

Did you fly to the 2020 or 2021 grand finals?

If not , did you rot under Dan Andrews?

The Eagles have been doing this for years but the problem is a huge number of members paid the premium and still didn’t get a ticket.
The AFL should be the ones looking at ways to get tickets in competitive teams hands not the clubs themselves.
