So Hallam can go 0-18 with a percentage of 25% in Div 1 and Powelltown can go 18-0 in Div 2 with a percentage of 250% and win their two finals by ten goals, but the Kremlin isn't going to relegate Hallam because of a back-room deal in order to fortify a cardboard empire by keeping them away from Alexandra and Broadford-Yea? What happens if Hallam went through a second successive season the same way?

That's a smack in the face for competitive football. The idea of divisional football is that teams go up and down in order to play at a level they are compatible with. Such a plan holds back a successful club and its players from playing at a better level and actually puts both clubs at risk of a player exodus. If Division 2 is to be treated as a separate competition they why doesn't the league give the division a separate name to the others.

MortlockWatcher looking like division 2 will only be 5 teams.
How does that help with player recruitment and retention as well.
🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

Players who have never played a senior final may be keen for such a farcical set-up because I am guessing four of the five would make finals with Upper Murray as the only precedent available (I can't see a top 3), but very few others would though unless they are getting massive coin overs to what they'd get elsewhere.

Nail hammer head. If your not local or have a connection to the club and playing in Div 2 it has to be for coin.

With the League still telling clubs they will have a seven team comp.

"Guys, each club will get 'a few extra' byes in the seven-team comp ... four of them having one every single week and a fifth team will have one every three weeks. We will play one match per round to keep the grounds in good condition and prevent them from getting muddy".

Don't know how the clubs in Div 2 stayed afloat.

Broken Hill Football League is a 4 team comp (all clubs from Broken Hill). It is a final 3…..first goes straight into the GF and 2 v 3 in the Preliminary. This makes more sense. Gives top a big advantage (deserve it based on H & A season) and will make it tighter for last finals spot. We know there is always going to be at least 1 really poor team. Can’t have just 1 team missing the finals.

Should always be only half the teams or just over half the number make the finals not 80% if we were to do 4/5 making it!

The Kremlin will go with a top four I reckon - if you only have three finalists, there are two less finals to cash in on.
So a team could potentially go say 2-14 (beat the bottom team twice and lose once or twice to them…depending on how many times they play each other), then miraculously win their 3 finals and be crowned premiers after winning 5 matches for the season…..bloody ridiculous and a shambles!

Not relevant to be honest.

A top three would have a Preliminary Final and a Grand Final (two match days).
A top four would have two Semi Finals, a Preliminary Final and a Grand Final (four match days).
Based on that alone, the Kremlin will have a four, no matter how many teams front up.

That said, there should be two divisions but the cardboard empire needs to have three so it looks bigger to outsiders.

With Kinglake going you'd have to say that surely Broadford, Yea and Alexandra don't have a future in the league. You can look at a map, they're nowhere near it.

At some stage you wind up with two divisions and basically back to the YVMDFL, but having traded the northern clubs for Narre, Pakenham, Officer, Hallam. Worth it? Who knows.

They have also traded their country roots in to become a suburban league in the process.

Exactly what will happen i reckon.

2023 or 2024 is one question

Pakenham and Narre's intentions the other
