That he only has two years left on his contract and we haven't had a developing ruckman on our list for a timely replacement is terrible list management
It almost looks like the club thinks everyone can play until their mid 30's these days

Marking is his 1 wood & when he is not marking regularly he is an overall liability.
Gather Straughan & Berg are both injured, so he knows he is safe.
We should ruck Thilthorpe for the majority of next week's game as we need him more in the game.

In the wash up of having a match taken away from us just 30 seconds before, the O'Brien dropped chest mark after Sydney ran it down the wing has gone unnoticed.
If he had marked, the switch was on and we know we had half our team on the other side wondering what was going on after the celebration, and had Sydney completely open. With a minute left we could have had a final shot on goal to win or draw the game.
It's hardly worth talking about given what has gone on (except on this thread, but it typifies ROB's ability to influence the game (zero).

How many centre bounces does he attend compared to the other rucks in the comp?
How many marks compared the other rucks?
What about disposals and clearances?
He’s not good, but there’s not much of an avenue to a good ruckman in the immediate future
Think we need to wait out the next two-ish years, while we look to chase someone from another club (eg Moyle this year, or Goad in a couple, Xerri will still be there so he won’t be getting games soon)

We aren't challenging in the next 2 years so yeah, it doesn't really matter.
That might have actually stood him in good stead if he'd been playing during Robert Shaw's tenure.
He does okay on clearances. Having a career best year in that area, middle of the pack for rucks in the AFL on average, and a little better in terms of totals because he has the tank to attend so many ruck contests, which is really his biggest strength as a player. Poor to very poor on all the rest, particularly this year where he's averaging half the marks he has for the rest of his career.
Another example of how hard it is to statistically quantify Aussie Rules.
