Human nature is the worst and what is worse is we like to blame those who fix the problem. In this case the police. Instead of understanding history and why the police are what they are because they organically grew into this, they decided to blame police and turn criminals into oppressed victims.

I get the want to try different things and be better, but the way they did it by writing of history as bad was incredibly dumb, and it tells you it was done for votes. Nothing to do with public safety. They just thought they were far enough removed that it would not land on their doorstep.
