You’ll find that most the ‘the Cowboys haven’t done x in x amount of years’ almost always applies to a large amount of teams as well, people are just obsessed with us and think they’re hilarious.
Short answer, no ...
Either your stat is wrongIf the San Francisco 49ers make the Super Bowl, then the NFC West will become the first division in NFL History to have three active Head Coaches whom all have two Super Bowl Appearances with the same team in the division
First off, yes I know it's a mouthful of a title, it's hard to make it succint.
If the 2022 49ers make the Super Bowl this year, then it will be Kyle Shanahan's second appearance in the Super Bowl with the Niners.
Which will give the NFC West, three Two-Time Super Bowl coaches simultaneously. Something that has never happened before in the history of the Super Bowl Era
Pete Carroll (XLVIII, XLIX)
Sean McVay (LIII, LVI)
Kyle Shanahan (LIV, LVII)
The previous record is having two "Double Contenders" at the same time which has occurred 5 times:
- Tom Landry & Joe Gibbs (NFC East - 1983-1998)
- Tom Flores & Dan Reeves (AFC West - 1987)
- Joe Gibbs & Bill Parcells (NFC East - 1990)
- Don Shula & Marv Levy (AFC East - 1991-1995)
- Pete Carroll & Sean McVay (NFC West - 2021-present)
Yep sorry typo, 1988Either your stat is wrong
Or your stat is wrong
Landry and Gibbs in the NFC East from 83-98 plus Gibbs and Parcells 90?
So were there 3 in 1990 or is 1998 meant to be 1988?
The Pittsburgh Steelers chose DL Gabriel Rivera in the 1983 1st Round despite being widely expected to draft hometown hero Dan Marino as Terry Bradshaw’s successor. Rivera was then paralyzed in a drunk driving accident six games into his rookie season.
Rivera was paralyzed in a car wreck. Driving while drunk, he crossed into another lane and collided with another vehicle.
Just a few years after that draft, Len Bias was drafted in the NBA 2nd overall only to die the next day from a coke overdose. The 80s was a crazy time.
