How beautiful a singer is Oleta Adams !! .....makes this song ....and all my songs have a strong melancholic feel

The section from 2' 45 ......is the heart of the song & when the proverbial shivers go up the spine .....the true test of the impact on your emotions

My musical discoveries from 2023. Not new music mostly, just new to me

The Cannonball Adderley Quintet - Dat Dere
I don't listen to much jazz at all but stumbled across this. Recorded in 1960. Has a bit more structure than some rambling, lengthy jazz excursions that I hate and plenty of hooks

Minutemen - Prelude
1980s punk band who's song "Corona" is used as the Jackass TV show theme. Their songs typically are very short, as their name suggests.

Burial - Rodent
A UK dub/grime artist. I was aware of but had never really listened to. This from 2017.

The Adverts - I Will Walk You Home
Early 80s British post punk. I love this low fi, minimalist vibe

Geeshie Wiley - Last Kind Words Blues
Haunting, old blues from 1930. I read about it in an article about Robert Plant & Alisson Krauss where Plant named it as a song they might play in their set.

Frank Ocean - Lost
From 2012. An artist I was aware of but never really checked out.

Bob Andy - The Way I Feel
Reggae tune from 1968

Philip Glass - Opening
A prolific composer, I love the soundtrack to The Truman Show but I hadn't delved into his other stuff. This is from his Glassworks album.

Black Box - Ride On Time
A rediscovery here. Late 80s club banger

Glenn Branca - Lesson No 1 for Electric Guitar
An American avant-garde composer and guitarist. This from 1980.

This Heat - Health And Efficiency
Experimental rock band. Not the easiest listening.

Alexander "Skip" Spence - Diana
Off the solo album Oar by Skip Spence from Moby Grape. Pretty out there

Mission Of Burma - Red
1980s post punk

Flaming Lips - Powerless
Alternative/Psychedelic Band, Pretty varied output. This was from 2009, well after their "breakthrough" album Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots.

Sonny Sharrock - Who Does She Hope To Be?
Jazz guitarist

John Zorn - Between Two Worlds
American composer, conductor, saxophonist, arranger and producer who "resists category." Incredibly varied output.

Big In Japan - Nothing Special
Late 70s / early 80s British punk band

Ween - It's Gonna Be (Alright)
A band I've overlooked for a long time but am getting into now. Had wrongly written them off as a novelty act

Khruangbin - Dern Kala
Psychedelic rock trio from Texas. This from 2015.

Soft Machine - Memories
I heard The Mars Volta's version first before checking out this 1972 effort. Originally done by The Wilde Flowers who were a precursor to Soft Machine.

The Saints - The Ballad
Have listened to some stuff from them but missed this. Early Australian punk

Sleepers - Mirror
San Francisco punk band. This single is from 1980.

Robert Rental - Double Heart
A Scottish DIY electronic/industrial post punk pioneer. This from 1980.

Medicine Head - Just Like Tom Thumb's Blues
British blues-rock band from the 70s. This is a live Bob Dylan cover.

The Nu'Rons - Hurry Up Tomorrow
Forgotten soul tune from 1980.
