What is the consensus here about HH status moving forward, Footy Class (I know , but still) reckon he is a lock to go to sydney on an 8! year deal.

Im not sure if I want us to keep him because I'm not sure how much value/$ he will bring in his current half back flank role, but I was disengaged from the club during 2020-2022 due to illness and surgery so what do others think?

Great news regarding XOH - if it's correct.

Just hope AFL.com.au haven't got their wires crossed and confused Ash's contract extension with XOH (the years match) as there's no announcement on the Giants website or Twitter feed.

Would be embarrassing.
I got the impression it was about XOH but in the about to be announced stage.

imagine if they have confused Ash and Xavier,

if they offer him an 8 year deal on decent dollars, he should definitely take it. That sets him up for life.

As someone who worked in the media for a long time and has seen the rapid decline in 'journalism', I wouldn't be the least surprised.

The lack of official announcement from the Giants is what's got me thinking.

AFL.com.au may have jumped the embargo - but it's just....odd.

Excellent news!

TIME TO PAY THE PERRYMAN

Giants defender Harry Perryman has already received a $3 million contract offer to secure his AFL future - and he might have to give up a million if he wants to stay in orange.

The 25-year-old, who joined GWS with pick 14 back in 2016, holds “the most lucrative three letters in football” according to the Herald Sun’s Jon Ralph.

“UFA. Unrestricted free agent,” he explained on Fox Footy’s Midweek Tackle.

“I can tell you tonight there are clubs out there who’ll be offering $800,000 for him. So why is it? Because he’s a free agent, but also because he’s a general defender who kicks the ball really well, he locks down.

“Again, I’ll say it, he’s an unrestricted free agent. He was third in their best and fairest in 2020, he has not finished in the top 10 in the best and fairest in any other year.

“GWS are aware of what’s going on, they’ve offered him five years at about $650,000. He’s in the leadership group, his partner plays for the Giants Netball team, she’s an Australian Diamonds netballer.

“It’s obscene money ... he wants to stay, (but) he’s probably going to have to give up a million bucks.”

Perryman had interest from Port Adelaide back in 2020 and the South Australian club again has interest in the versatile Riverina product.

He has played 115 AFL games but only once, in 2023 when he featured 22 times, has he played more than 19 in a season.

line in the sand moment.
Similar situation to Harry, I think. Other clubs will offer huge $$$ to prise them out of the club (the old adage, need to offer more to get them to leave), beyond what their worth is. Depends whether they want to make huge bucks, or can see a future at this club, and being locals (as much as you can for this club) will accept less.

I think we'll do the same as with Himmelberg, Cogs and Kelly plus other. We'll offer him a good contract, but less than he could get elsewhere, hopefully he stays because he is happy, but if he takes the extra million over 5 years, who could blame him.
The more you earn, the less the extra bit of cash means. The difference between $650k and $800K means less than the difference between $400 and $550k
