Bumped David King analysing the Geelong game plan

The idiot had us finishing 6th in 2013 (top 4), 7th in 2014 (top 4) and has now got us missing out all together for 2015.

What football expert in their right mind would continually place Richmond above us?

My guess is way back when... he would be a geocentric theorist , and he would be be espousing plenty of facts to why Galileo must be wrong . Earth revolve around the sun. Impossible

For anyone interested he has Essendon (6th), Adelaide (7th) and Gold Coast (8th) finishing ahead of us

And of course he has North (3rd) finishing ahead of the Swans (4th)

Id like to hear him post the Crows game , see if he is still of the same opinion. My guess he would be ,because inspite of us liking the Clark and Cocky show , we still were very lucky that the Crows kicked poorly , that we were not strong enough around the ball /inside ball , that our kickouts where appalling....etc etc. there was plenty to pick on if thats your mindset.

There should be an accreditation system before any media organisation can promote someone as an "expert" tipster.

Well we came 3rd and 5th so he wasn't far off.

Interesting the commentators saying we're focusing more on CP and clearances this year. Lets see if it'll make a difference.

Really need to work on the over possessing of the ball and also getting it out of half back seems almost mission impossible at times.

Still think he hasn't found who can fill that Cameron Mooney role against a good side.

The interesting thing about this 2013 commentary is that after King identified what was happening (and Enright was a huge part of this, as he was the loose, running forward from the backline to pressure and take possession to go forward), teams put alot of work into the Cats, and they shut it down. They didn't bomb it forward from their stoppage or clearance, but slowed it down. It was Chris Scott's second year and the team was very much transitioning away from our dominant midfielders who had or were retiring. It was astute coaching, but he didnt really have a developed plan B.

I wonder if modern/evolved coaching from CS is already planning for this and looking to shift this into a more win the contest style once Guthrie and Danger are back to being regulars in the midfield. Or whether it is simply used for certain teams with stronger midfields and clearance games.

That's up there with Tim Lane's "the days of domination are over" before we piled on something like 15 goals in a row against the Dogs in 2010 as my favorite quote from an "expert commentator".

Remember Tim Lane's comment well as we were around 15 points down at the time winty:.... "the days of domination are over" and seriously winty: he no sooner made that comment and Geelong just went goal, goal, goal and more goals, it just rained Geelong goals as we went onto win by around 100 points for memory, hilarious at time but it was his 'timing' of when he said that remark that made it far more memorable with Geelong kicking goal after goal. It was if the Geelong players had heard him make that comment and said 'not on our watch'.

There was a cleverly edited video on YouTube. Can't seem to find it now.

Edit: found it

Several weeks later, after Geelong had been kicked out of the finals courtesy of a pummeling by a red-hot Collingwood, Tim Lane wrote an article in which he re-iterated the "days of domination" and declared that while his comment was mis-timed, the overall gist was true and we were on our way down. He was evidently still seething over how Geelong had made him look foolish in a matter of minutes but wanted to get his win back by piling on at the same time everyone was - Geelong had been badly beaten by Collingwood, had lost Ablett, lost Thompson. Now was the time he could make that call, and he'd be vindicated lauded for his keen foresight.

The following year Geelong went 19-3, beat the minor and previous premier in every encounter and confidently accounted for all of its finals challengers. This included the infamous 186 belting of Melbourne. So plenty more days of domination for Time Lane to endure.

We really need to approach Tim for comment
