BFL discussion 2023

My own opinion, but I think it’s a pretty inexcusable mistake for any team in any league to make (or even nearly make) when it’s only 3 games.
I find it hard to believe Atleast one of the following didn’t know the player hadn’t played enough games.

-The player themself
-Either of the parents
-The coach
-The team manager
-teammates

Not to sound like a smart ass, but surely it ain’t hard to count to 3, Knowone seems to have any trouble counting when it comes to 50 & 100 game milestones …

Anyway, looking forward to senior finals this weekend, All 3 games could go either way.
A question would be why didn’t the play HQ flag it when the team entered the teamsheet ? As an ineligible player ?

Hodgson has coached Sunbury since 2019 following a successful tenure at Bacchus Marsh.

The club released a statement on Friday.
"The Sunbury Football Netball Club wish to advise its players, coaching staff, members and supporters that Travis Hodgson in consultation with the football club has decided not to continue as coach of the senior football club in 2024," the statement read.
"Both parties have been in discussion throughout 2023 and decided after the final game of the year that 'Trav' would not continue on in 2024."

Hodgson and Aaron Tymms were the final two coaches remaining at their respective clubs from before COVID-19.
"Travis has been our senior coach since 2019 and has guided the club through the COVID-19 pandemic which was a challenging period, he has also been instrumental in turning our list over, as well as developing our young playing group and attracting recruits to our club."
"As a senior premiership player for our club we are very thankful to have someone of Travis' calibre return to the club and guide the club through a difficult period."
Sunbury said it would like to thank Hodgson for his five years of service.
"The club will now actively seek a senior coach for 2024 and the club will also look to complement the playing list with recruiting a number of players."

He's hot fav for south

Went and watched Sebas v East yesty. Burra will be dissapointed falling at the first hurdle. East (without Jordy) jumped them early and seemed like Sebas just couldn’t get any fluency going all day, except for patches here & there. Missed Kiel in the middle

Burra fought back in the 2nd half but had to work so hard for their goals, where as Roos looked dangerous nearly every time they went forward.

A lot of Sebastopols core are getting into their 30s now. Have plenty of kids coming through, but they’ll be rueing yesterday.

Story of the Burra season… Their best can match anyone, but poor goal kicking costs them time and again.
Agree the core is getting older but a few good reserves players to promote and strong morale at the club overall.
Top 6 would be a minimum expectation for next season.

Definitely a year that never quite clicked for the Burra. Unfortunate end to the year.
Watched Darley v Melton, most amateurish umpiring I’ve seen for a big final. Boundary umpire couldn’t throw it far enough in the first qtr, had to re-thow it in 20 times in the first half. Field umpires way out of their depth also.

What about the game ? Can Melton bounce back ?

Thought Melton had control in 1st quarter and should have been a few goals up. But darley dominated after that and should have won by more if they kicked straight. Melton defenders done well to hold out in the 3rd qtr, ball was going deep inside darley 50 plenty of times.
I think melton can still make the grand final. North blessed now with East knocking off Sebas, have 2 chances now to make grand final

I see the league have changed the 2nd semi to Darley Park
