The kid who kicked 7 in the unders I assume got dropped so they could play Garlett and Bennell etc 😟
Do you have any idea about footy in general as I’m struggling with your little knowledge of the game. His 17 and went back to play in his age group for his development. His still young!!

Agree about the league scheduling being poor. I think there are heap of occasions when Darley and Marsh are both home or both away. I’ll take your word for it about the 2 Melton sides.
How do you suppose the league helps South rebuild? That’s not their job, it’s the clubs job.
Could fixture things better.
Could offer some assistance as I believe the only assistance they provided was to give them an additional 10k in the salary cap..

Otherwise they probably need to bite the bullet and move competitions. What does that mean for Ballarat league footy?? Could it spell trouble in that other clubs also look at moving in coming years??
It’s an interesting one!!

Hey Trent, I don’t think having VFL aligned players is the way forward unless you’re a 1 point local or they know someone and are really keen to come across. It serves little purpose especially as south are struggling a bit and trying to rebuild.
It’s not going to be easy..
Yep but you might get them for 4 games one season, 5 or 6 the next, then they might come full time turbs and they've dropped a couple of points in that process

South leaving would even up the draw and make it possible for a 10 team comp where everyone plays each other twice. Not sure of cap implications though, would need to be lifted. In the past and at the moment the draw is comprised because whoever gets South twice gets an automatic 8 premiership points, and 20 to 40 percentage points

Makes sense maybe why the league doesn’t assist. South MUST focus on improvement over the season and look to get 4-5 homegrown boys who go well to return next year, along with another few recruits.

Looking at things longer term will Bacchus stay in the league? A move might suit them as well. However I know they are a good club and would probably stay but can they compete long term with Nth Ballarat, Sunbury, East Point, Melton etc… Darley very strong, successful club but struggling at 19s level so how are they situated long term?? Bewley, Myers, Wright keeping them strong and all homegrowns so good recruiting platform along with Jordan as coach.

With Kyeton moving being a success will it pay the way for other committees to explore options.

Anyway it’s just a conversation flow boys. Don’t rip my head off.. 😄

Cannot see any scenario where Bacchus leaves any time soon. They have a strong group of 18-20 year olds aswell as a strong under 17 senior team.

No clubs will be leaving or joining the league for the foreseeable future.

As posted earlier, if South were gonna leave for the RDFL or WRFL they would of done it by now.

There’s been talk of Gisborne joining the league for over 15 years. I’ll believe it when I see it. As far as any CHFL clubs moving to the BFL, Buninyong is the only club who could even come close to joining.

I'd be very surprised if Marsh chose to look elsewhere.
They've historically been a Ballarat club & while they're rebuilding atm, they've won a flag & played off in another Grand Final within the last decade so there's little doubt around their capacity to compete.
They've got some talented young guys coming through so they should see the benefit in seasons ahead if nurtured correctly, which I have little doubt they will.
I'd be surprised if anyone were to depart but there does seem to be more noise about Gisborne than I can recall at least.
A benefit if they did make the move would be in getting rid of the bye & creating greater parity between East & West.
We'll see though..

That's by far the biggest problem with the system.
The points system has to be simpler so that there is no doubt about a player's points.
It should not be a case of three people on here coming up with three different totals because of all the variables to factor in.
I don’t agree with the system but I understand what is written. Some on here obviously don’t. 😄

You don’t see the difference between other teams playing their VFL aligned players, to South playing blokes for 1 game? Glover is a North player who is a 1 pointer. Ottavi is an East premiership player.
So they are only playing 1 game. How do you know that or are you just guessing??
Local Leader article suggesting otherwise..Ummmm 🤨

With regards to the difference I guess it can be taken in different ways. Get them in and possibly they come over full time at some stage vs a VFL aligned who might only play a few games for a period of years purely for the $$$. Not a lot of difference really.
Unless that’s your home club..but still they are only playing the odd game and for $$$.
Players still get dropped for these aligned players don’t they?

South went down the VFL aligned path with Pritchard & his Port Melbourne connections. It showed glimpses of working when they got a few of them full time, but they had no local base to compliment them.

I know what you are trying to say, but your examples of Glover and Ottavi don’t work for the point you are trying to make.
Also, no one is fussed if these blokes are going to play one game or the whole year. Looking at the results so far this year, South may be a chance to beat Lake Wendouree, that maybe about it though. When do you play them, save these guys for that clash

Why a club would take on Sam Darley is beyond me. Clubs just don't do their homework/ research.

Darley makes many promises then doesn't follow through, always claiming a change in 'personal circumstances'.

His efforts at Leeton Whitton FNC in the Riverina FNL and what he did to them despite the club going well beyond the call to assist and support him were nothing short of a disgrace and the best example of why no club should take him on.

Unfortunately Melton South (as per the usual) would not have done any homework!

There is always going to be some desperate club out there to take on these sorts of blokes.

I’ve notice he has a habit of signing two year deals at clubs and leaving after one.

You are very observant Bambino. Leeton Whitton, North Hobart and North Shore can all attest to this,

The individual promises the world and never delivers always quoting a change in personal circumstances. He is a fraud which I don’t say lightly.

Geelong Amatuer aswell. Signed for two years and went to Point Cook after one.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion and maybe his past hasn’t been great, but from what I witnessed he was great on the day. Interacting with supporters and kids pre game and giving advice to the young playing group. He had 53 possessions so can’t ask for more than that type of effort.

South losing players who stuck around for the long haul .

Mitch caddy first of a handful to make a move.

Reports of Travis singling players out and rippping into them in front of the playing group each week .

Not sure if right way to go, they are undermanned already as it is, players leaving makes it harder to succeed in the future , especially the ones who were committing to playing out there years at south .

If reports are true , Travis will not better the club he will ruin it just like he blew the biggest choke of the year with Sunbury last year missing out after being almost locked in

There's a bit of positivity around the Swans, they've a big test against Darley. It'll be interesting to see how they go.

No good if the above is true. This season needed to be about creating a base to build from over coming years, having players departing is close to the last thing they need.
