For each game played this season 5 votes is given to the Ballarat player who scored the most points in the game, 4 votes is awarded to the Ballarat player with the second most points in the game, 3 votes is awarded to the Ballarat player with the third highest points in the game, 2 votes is awarded to the Ballarat player with 4th highest points in the game and 1 vote is awarded to the Ballarat player with the 5th highest points in the game.

In the event of two or more players having the same score in a match, the tie will be broken by awarding the higher votes to the player with more goals in the match. If players are still tied then the higher votes will be awarded to the player with the most disposals, hitouts, marks and then tackles in that order.

Voting is conducted for the AFL TM premiership season home and away rounds as well any finals played by the club. Pre-season games do not count.

After the voting has been completed for all rounds, the player who has accumulated the highest amount of votes for the season will be crowned as the 2016 Ballarat Dragons Best and Fairest. In the event of a tie, both players will be deemed the Best and Fairest player for the season.

Acres of Room at Blake's New Home

Ballarat Dragons have made their first move in the 2016 post season by signing midfielder Blake Acres to a two year contract through the Homeless Player draft. The draft was open to all formerly contracted players of the now defunct teams Mozzie Bites and Rottnest Razorbacks teams. The Dragons selected the 21 year old midfielder with the sixth pick overall in the draft and expect Acres to make an immediate impact at the club. Ballarat Dragons coach and General Manager fightingfury_88 was particularly enthused about the acquisition of Acres.

"We have been watching Blake for several years now and have watched him develop into a dependable midfielder for the Razorbacks. We were very keen on Blake in his draft year and were disappointed that we were unable to draft him in his draft year, however we are absolutely rapt to have him as part of the team now and see him as a long term player for us."

Acres is the first addition the the Dragons list this off-season in what is expected to be a busy period for the club after a very promising end to the 2016 season having many pundits predicting a potential maiden finals berth for the club in 2017.
