For each game played this season 5 votes is given to the Ballarat player who scored the most points in the game, 4 votes is awarded to the Ballarat player with the second most points in the game, 3 votes is awarded to the Ballarat player with the third highest points in the game, 2 votes is awarded to the Ballarat player with 4th highest points in the game and 1 vote is awarded to the Ballarat player with the 5th highest points in the game.

If players are still tied then the higher votes will be awarded to the player with the most disposals, hitouts, marks and then tackles in that order.

Big Three Re-sign for 5 More Years
11/02/16

Ballarat have acheived one of their key objectives of the off-season by shoring up their future and re-signing three scoring guns in Chad Wingard, Tom Mitchell and Jackson Macrae for a further 5 years despite intense interest from rival clubs. All three players form the nucleus of the Dragons' scoring potential with all players consistently averaging close to or over 100 points per game. All three also have plenty of years left in the system with Wingard and Mitchell turning 23 and Macrae 22 in season 2016.

Chad Wingard was the first player ever drafted to the Balllarat Dragons when they selected him with the fourth overall pick in the 2011 National Draft. Since then, Wingard has been a regular member of the Dragons' team, playing the second most games (89) and the most goals (148) overall for the club. Wingard has twice won the Ballarat Dragons leading goalkicking award in 2013 and 2014 as well as winning the Best New Talent award in 2012 and the Most Improved Award in 2013. In a further feather indication of Wingard's standing at the club he managed to captain the club in a total of 5 games in 2014 when the regular captain and vice captain Nathan Van Berlo and Jackson Trengove were unavailable due to injury. Wingard's new deal will see him stay at the Dragons until at least 2020 where he will continue to be one of the most exciting players at the club to watch.
WINGARD%20Chad.png

Tom Micthell was lured across to the Dragons at the end of the 2013 season on a mega 2 year deal and despite a rough start, now finds himself entrenched in the team's best handful of players. Mitchell took his game to new heights in 2015 when he averaged a whopping 106.6 points per game, becoming just the third Dragon to be named in the All Australian team (Interchange). Mitchell's new 5 year deal is just rewards for a young player who has worked hard on his game and is now one of the premier ball magnets in the league.
MITCHELL%20Tom.png

Jackson Macrae, the youngest of the three re-signings is perhaps the most promising player of the lot. The midfielder was selected by the Dragons with the seventh overall pick in the 2012 National Draft and took little time to impress, winning the best new talent in his debut season (2013) before taking out back to back Best and Fairests in 2014 and 2015 as well as earning All Australian honours on the interchange for the 2014 season. Macrae has an uncanny ability to find space and with great evasion and kicking skills is one of the first players that team-mates will look for. Although predominantly an outside player, Macrae is begining to work on his inside game which can only increase his fantasy potential; a scary thought given that he has already comfortably averaged over 100 points per game in two of his three seasons.

New Captain for 2016
19/02/16

Ballarat Dragons have announced their leadership group for 2016, with key forward Jeremy Cameron taking over as captain from veteran listed Nathan Van Berlo. Jeremy Cameron joined the Dragons via trade at the end of the 2013 season and has since played 36 games and kicked 92 goals for the club, including winning the leading goalkicker award in 2015 after booting 63 majors. Jeremy has shown great leadership both on and off the field ever since arriving at the club and his promotion to captain is the logical choice for a very talented and professional individual.

Joining Cameron in the leadership group is key defender Jackson Trengove (vc), Jordan Roughead, Matthew Broadbent, Jackson Macrae and Chad Wingard.
