Caleb Daniel's 30 disposals were lauded by the commentators but he exerted minimal impact on the game today.

Defensive players of his calibre are the most useless in the modern game. I feel like anyone with a basic level of kicking under no pressure can slot into this position.

North have had a run of these in the 2020-2025 era.

Hall, Ziebell, Sheezel, Fisher, McKercher & Daniel all given a dedicated role to get 30 touches and do nothing. Worst tactic in footy and symbolic of the shitness of North

You messed up here.

How on Earth did you think that would be an unpopular opinion?!
I don’t know man, I see people getting excited by these sorts of things from time to time.

It was probably more a crack at Serong who posed for that photo, because it may or may not say a lot about why Freo have been so shit for so long.

The AFL rules committee is the best thing that's happened to footy.

Giving a group of TOP SHELF thinkers nothing to do other than to $#@ with the game 9-5 and all year during the season has grown the game exponentially, while satisfying every single long term AFL fan.

Smiles on faces every time they discover something new to $%#@ with.

Then more rule changes to deal with the unintended consequences.

And who doesn't love the different themed umpiring focus decisions paid differently each week too.

Wowee!!

We should be giving these guys a parade on GF day every year. Maybe a pay rise too?

Yeah, those indigenous fellas are such unexciting footballers to watch 🙄
Oh dear, that's what you took from it?
Howabout this. Making an indigenous players like Izak Rankine choose between representing his state of origin, which he did throughout his whole Jrs, and his culture is shit. If he chooses his state it puts him at odds with other indigenous people, but if he chooses his culture it puts him at odds with his state.
It dilutes the SA and WA teams who have more indigenous state players than Vic does.
Do you want me to go on about how it's a terrible and divisive thing, or do you get it now?

Harry McKay is allegedly on 1mil a year, or $45k per game.. It is unfair to the Carlton FC that they are liable to cover the salary of a player suffering an illness that is unrelated to his football.

I would much prefer Matt Rowell than Harley Reid at my club.
I think many coaches would secretly agree.
Is also 4 years older than Harley and not having to do all the heavy lifting on his own. Harley just needs to get out of the cesspit that is West Coast and into a decent football environment and his development will skyrocket.

I'm not a WCE fan but it is far from a cesspit. It is a well setup and well run club that made some serious list management blunders a few years ago and is still recovering, but they will definitely get there.

who should pay the salary instead then. why is it only unfair to carlton

They have been a rabble since the Covid season, and I acknowledge Carlton are not a lot better but the environment at West Coast has been a long way from the elite standards required, with a serious lack of on field leadership, which is only going to get worse when the skipper leaves at the end of this season. Unless Harley has the will and want to be the man to bring the Eagles through the rot, which will be another decade of pain then he is better off leaving.

Harry should forfeit that salary if he is unable to play. Of course its not only unfair to Carlton but any club that is put in the same circumstances. At my employment, if I exhaust my sick leave I am made to take leave without pay, should be no different for an AFL player.

Their leave entitlements are not the same as yours.

Having an indigenous all stars team in state of origin is literally asking for racism to occur.

It's just not necessary and divisive. Sure, have a game like we saw with Freo, but don't divide state allegiance by race.
Terrible decision and put the indigenous boys in a terrible position to where they have to make a choice and upset a group of people regardless of the decision they make. It's actually disgusting

Agreed.

The All Stars game works because it’s just a practice match for the opposition which allows the game to be the celebration of culture that it is.

As soon as the opposition and their fans are actually invested in the game, it’s inevitable it will get ugly.

Not to mention you’re making it incredibly divisive by asking players to pick between representing their state or their culture, when I’d imagine most players would love to represent both and be extremely proud to.

I’m actually staggered that anyone thought this was a good idea and really hope it gets binned.
