GremioPower what is correct pronnunciation of Christian's name in Portuguese again??

The SA media is going with --> More - ays ( like days)

In American English, it would be "more ice" or "more eyes". Either one is fine. [Also, in some parts of Brazil, it would end with a "sh" sound.]

However, I think that the way to transcript it in Australian English would be "more-ays". If so, then, it's correct.

Josh Carr on Christian Moraes making his AFL debut:

“It's a great story for him. He's worked really hard over the summer. He's been pretty consistent in his form over the summer. Also, he's elite with his work rate, his contest to contest (work). Obviously, it's a surprise externally. Internally, he was around the mark, and you know, we feel it is important to reward form at this stage.

“He loves his football. He is in my office every day, annoying the hell out of me and Sutts, the development coach (Cam Sutcliffe). His attention to detail on his game is just super so his want to play AFL footy is nearly some of the strongest that I've seen.

“I think it's not going to bother him too much, as far as being overawed by the situation, I think he's going to be ready for it and I think he can surprise a few.”

I remember a four-time John Cahill Medallist who had a reputation for pestering coaches non-stop for a call up. ;)

We 100% will lol

This selection lines up with one of Janus 's regular old arguments that Hinkley loves to give a young player a taste of AFL footy to encourage them and then push them to earn their spot back at SANFL level. Every time we'd complain about a young player getting unfairly dropped he'd wheel this one out. Wonder if Ken Stinkley is playing the hits for his farewell tour.

He pronounces it More-ay-yes?

Like that song from the musical Paint Your Wagon - "They call the wind More-Eye-Yes".

* sorry *

I’ve posted about it already. Still, I’m not sure whether I was clear enough.

I can’t send an audio here, but I’ve shown the possible pronunciations to RussellEbertHandball. He may transcribe it better than I did.

People will go ballistic with his disposal by foot, hope im wrong however and he has promising debut. Feel for Lorentz.

Instead of kicking the ball like a Brazilian, he kicks it like me. Damn it!

I fear losing my passport every time I play ball… 😅

I am positive about Carr as our next coach. In the last 12 months or so I have run Into football people (non Port) who have connections to Carr. They rate him highly with one guy telling me that Carr whilst great at building relationships is ruthless. I think things will change for the better once he is in the chair.
Music to my ears.

No issue with him being sub. The alternatives are Jones or Sinn. We need to see whether Sinn can work himself into his AFL career by playing consistently. Start getting the defensive aspects right and then the flair and creativity might come with more confidence. Jones apparently has been cut slack by the coaches despite his errors because his defensive side of his game has finally improved (source: Carr on SEN). Problem is it’s hard to defend when you’re dropping sitters and fumbling handpasses in the defensive goal square.
