Correct you either have it or you don’t. 2004 we had a very skilled side but non of them took a backward step now we are full of laconic players and nice guys.

Not sure Carr has any mongrel in him as a coach. He seems completely different to how he carried himself as a player. He appears very placid now.
Christ. One game in which the delivery inside 50 was an absolute disgrace and we are calling this guy the worst recruit of all time.
Give him a bit more time.
I think he showed a bit at gold coast in a pretty shitty environment where most players that leave do better elsewhere. But I think the main reason he fell out of favour was that the suns have always been shit at managing their salary cap and with the emergence of Mac Andrew and Luko having the strong go home links it was an easy way to free up a lot of cap space.

It's not about delivery, or how many goals he kicked or didn't kick for mine. He looked lacksadaisical, like he barely gave a ****. Admittedly so did most of the team, but in your first game for a new club, you should be putting in the hard yards. He didn't.
The attacks on this guy are just ridiculous! That was a woeful performance by the entire team, singling him out, for whatever reason, is just reactionary, and frankly ... stupid!
I thought he started off well, then he went the way of the entire team - Off the cliff.
I am going to keep directing my blows and energy to where the blame for our current debacle really stands; Koch, Richardson, Davies, and the head coach ... I forget his name!
Until there is a regime change, this club is stuffed! It's like a white-washed, termite-ridden house - All Goochie-Goochie on the outside, but rotten to the core on the inside!

There's only one player on the team that was brought in over the off season on close to a million a year.
There's only one player on the team that is playing for us at the cost of this year's first round pick (currently pick #1).
It's one game but it's one game that looked exactly like the 100+ he played at the SUNS before Hardwick said enough. Do better and everyone will shut up.

If anyone wants to have a crack at Luko, I would be starting elsewhere in the forward line. MG was horrendous, Luko was much better than Mitch was. Why is he not getting any backlash?
Mitch was a straight forward draft pick.
Luko involved giving up next years first round pick and taking a salary dump on the worst player ever to pull on a Port jumper.
Combine that with us losing one of our best players in this all time shit trade it's pretty well expected punters are going to be all over Jack after a poor performance.

I'll say lightfoots instead of soft, every team has a few, every premiership side has a few.

It's true every team has some soft players, difference is they make up for it in other ways.
Our guys just go to water and have nothing else in the bag of tricks.
This year we cut the easy targets without making a real dent in the list.
There's guys in the side weekly that are and never will be good enough.
You want success you need to be ruthless in all aspects.

Yea I think a soft mentality is the biggest problem it exacerbates every weakness on-field.
Mitch Georgiades cost us a future first traded to Brisbane that everyone was bitching was going to be a top 5 pick.
Just like how people are right now listing future 1st we traded for Lukosius as pick 1.
And Mitch Georgiades was a massive reach when we selected him with pick 18. We've seen videos of other clubs that were going to select him in the late 20s. Shocked that the guy who missed almost his entire draft year with a bad corkie was taken so early.
But we never had to take some has been to get him and lose arguably one of our top 3 players.
There's no comparison, hopefully he'll come good but with Hardwick putting a line through him it tells you a lot.
Lukosius in my opinion was never worth a future first round pick without something decent coming back with him (ie not Atkins). As a third tall flanker he will be fine especially when the rest of the team is flying. The alarming thing for me on Saturday night was how uncompetitive Mitch was. He didn’t offer a shot in his first outing without Charlie or Todd to fall back on. If Mitch can be no more than a second KF, and Jack a third tall flanker type, it means we need to find a number 1 KF. Whitlock is years from that player. Lord is unlikely. Finlayson is a definite no. Relying on Marshall longer term is fraught with risk.

It was actually evident the difference between 2001-2003 and 2004, 2001-2003 we were always a good side, but very nice. We got rid of Stevens and Paxman, who were both good players, but felt we replaced them with Chad and Hardwick, felt like Wilson and Mahoney gave us the desperate edge we needed to drive us and Choppy and Carr had a few mates running with them all of a sudden.
Mitch has some runs on the board being I believe our best forward in recent years.
All our problems go back to weak management that filters down through the club.
You don't have to be as old as dirt (like me) to remember when we had real footy people running the club.
We used to have a club that was all on the same page.
Success or at least striving for success.
I honestly can see us in the wilderness for many years until our club is run by real football people who are prepared to do anything for the improvement of our on filed performances.

Anyone thinking we were getting prime Wayne Carey was delusional, nothing wrong with Corey McKernan/Chris Grant though. The biggest issue with our forwards, outside of game plan is the lack of a physical presence that can continuously bring the ball to ground. Lord has the attitude, but in the structure we run he is a liability on the defensive side of the game, and we expect him to be Peak Tredrea.
I have full faith in a Forward set up of Lord, Marshall and Georgie with Lukocious on a Wing/High Half Forward to be a very dangerous mix in a better game plan/structure.
Rioli, DBJ/SPP and Rozee/Richards at their feet would be fine, our issue is Marshall is injured and we are rolling all 4 smalls in there without Lord.
Does this change the result last Saturday, no. Finlayson summed up our desperation and application of effort multiple times in the defensive half of the ground, from what little I saw, we didn’t want to work defensively. Jones dropping his head after the spilled mark another example of not having the desire to defend, we want footy in our hand and to hurt on transition but lack the intensity to work back and make a desperate play.
This has been the case since 2018 Ken extension…
