No more dreads

Happy to be staying

Attacking his rehab

Targeting R1-5 somewhere for a return which would be about a month or so ahead of a 12 month schedule

I feel like Culley has been unfairly maligned on this board. He's a promising young player, can impact going forward, good overhead mark and developing his midfield game. Strong work ethic will hold him in good stead.

He'll come back via the Beagles and build back up for a good chance at a return at AFL level close to midseason I'd say.

Culley's been forgotten because of the knee injury, but his initial block of games last year were solid, and he kicked 4 goals in a Rising Star nominated performance this year.

And he knows how to tackle.

He's big and strong and can kick goals. There's a knock on his speed but so long as all the mids we draft aren't slow there will be a place for him alongside Ginbey, Hewett, Reid etc.

Personally think the one year extension doesn't give him enough time to come back from his injury. It always takes players some time to come back from a knee reconstruction, and it's even more precarious for a young developing player on the fringe.

Should have backed him in to 2025. We have more spuds on this list than we know what to do with.

If he's aiming for round 1-5 it's not so bad, give him at least half the season to cement a spot and get a longer/better deal.

It'll be number 3 on the rookie list, can't extend him more than that.

Really hope he proves me wrong but it is a worry he did his ACL when his mobility and speed were already average. Fingers crossed. He seems like a great bloke and hard worker.

If mobility and speed were already average, then an ACL isn't going to do much to change that.

Be different if he had OP and lost his speed, a la Judd, or relied on his leap, like NN(who was able to adapt).

Yep, surprised he only got 1 year...thought he was a key part of the rebuild..the injury cloud perhaps?

Can you imagine Ginbey + Reid in the same midfield in 3-5 years?

Sploosh...
Plus Hewett, Culley and Burgiel.

Got a little bit of emotional investment in Culley.
Can't help it. MSD pickup, has shown value very early. Works very hard. Talks about the other younger group positively.
Terrific story. Don't want to go early, but can't help the feeling that something great is happening with those boys.
Just the vibe. Makes me happy.

100%

Our 2018 era of success was fun for its own reasons but there's something awesome about getting behind a dominant midfield all around the same age learning to work with each other and collectively beat whoever they're up against - think we have the beginnings of the talent and personalities to make that a thing with this group.

And really hope Culley is part of it. He's very hard not to like. Want us to make him feel backed in as a club and give him as much confidence as we can that his future is here.

Hopefully one of those players he's looking to model his game off is Patrick Cripps. Around the same size and looks to play a similar game already. Also a bit faster than Cripps.
