Hear hear! What makes people think that Harley will leave if we don’t rapidly climb the ladder?
Does it ever occur to people that he is a young kid who just may be a “ loyal” young kid!!
Wow what a concept!
Can the “Success Now Or I’m Outta Here” brigade just gtfo!!

This is what I don't understand. He was the number one pick going to a club that after last season has won 10 games in three seasons. Either him or his management are delusional as shit if he thinks he can just walk through the door and we instantly start winning. This is at least a two/three year process just to get things back on track, let alone winning.

You wanna win games and start fixing up the losing culture? How's about you show up to pre-season in a condition to be rearing to go?

C.Ronaldo's new contract is rumoured to be €185 million annually (AUD $300 million).

€500,000 (AUD $830k) A DAY.
Sometimes, when looked at from an investment view, some of these deals actually make sense. Some just never will.

The Haaland deal actually does make financial sense from the clubs view. Pay him £25mill per year over the next 10 years (1 yr existing, 9 extension) equals £250 million in total. (I know, I'm a maths genius with that one).

But to go out in the world and get one of the top 5 strikers in world football to replace him is going to cost around £200 million just for the transfer fee. Add in wages and suddenly £250M looks sensible. And the striker in question is not going to be 23 years old. And you're going to go back to the market in 5 years time.

But the whole Saudi sports-washing is just money because they have unlimited funds for vanity projects like LIV golf, boxing title fights, UFC, Football Pro League etc.
Ronaldo at 39 aint the player he was 10 years ago. Wouldn't get a game at a top club in Europe any more. What they are paying for is a name and the associated publicity that could convince others to sign.
They've managed to sign some names but nowhere near enough to be destination clubs like say Spain or England. I can see any top player at the end of his career being tempted by the silly money, but I just can't see anyone at the peak of their career going to train and play in Saudi.

The Saudis are going to have to sell a lot of Ronaldo replica kit to recoup their money.

52 possesion in one game at under 16 level

So collecting 21 possesion in SANFL finals as bottom ager at HFF doesn't scream pick 1?
Stephen Coniglio had 17 disposals and kicked 4.1 in the 2010 WAFL grandfinal as a 16 year old (a 1 point victory for his side). Not only wasn't he a number 1 pick, but he isn't even in discussion for the best player from the draft.

He was also a predraft selection by GWS a year before he was eligible for the draft so it’s not really correct to say he wasn’t a number 1 pick

I remember watching the game live and he kicked 2 goals on his left and 2 on his right and I thought this kid was going to take the AFL by storm. I think blokes like him and David Swallow never got to reach their ceiling at the expansion teams due to extra heavy lifting and expectations. Both will end their careers as champions of their respective clubs.

Well there you go

Always thought the was a predraft selection

Apologies to Underdog

Should’ve done my research first
Far out my man you have done that wrong. When someone provides incontrovertible proof that you are wrong, you just blarwharble FAKENEWS and something about the msm and double down on stupid!!

Have you even been watching?

The fact is a man child that can play seniors underage and still look good isn’t always the same guy that has the highest ceiling.

Just as important as runs on the board for a no1 pick is how they project. Harley was both but they aren’t always. Daniel Rich was floated as a no1 candidate in his draft year as was already very comfortable at Subiaco but slipped a bit due to his ceiling being lower than a few others at the time

Can we not spend the next two years speculating on whether Harley re-signs or not?

It's completely pointless.
Sadly unless he signs an extension it will be news and a talking point. Even more so because of the so called journos that had info he didn’t want to come pre draft.

The reality is the longer he waits the more money clubs, including WCE, will throw at him. He will be getting offers of 10yr @ 2m+ by the end of the year.

Still don't think WCE trade him this year as to move clubs next year, he will likely be the highest paid player in the game and will keep 99% his value whether in contract or not. IMO he will stay for at least 1 contract extension.

Maybe, I’d contract value right now is pretty high.

I think if he knows the Eagles are a legit chance of Warner he at least does a small extension

Daniel Rich was a pre-draft selection a year before he was eligible for the draft so he could have easily gone number 1, we'll never know.
