I have a sneaky sneaky feeling (just putting the dots together):

First he tells me that Richmond are meeting with GWS, THEN, says Richmond are meeting with GC for a "pick upgrade".

Pick #12 + #27 for Shiel?

If that happened

Please dont feed the local wild life. Our system cant digest this type of stuff. :D

I reckon I'd do that trade in a heartbeat for Shiel.

Unrelated but how cheap are some of these Brisbane players going for!

Yeah the thing with the Lions players is not so much trading for the sake of trading but the potential to extract value for your list. Still some may be overrated. CFC and Saints seem to be getting a good deal but then maybe it only appears that way

Batchelor & 50 for 27 & 43, gives us 12, 27 & 43 to take kids with 68 for either a rookie upgrade or to take Weller.

Can you trade a player who signed a deal less than a month ago? (Batch) I would have thought that would breach the contract.

Sure can.

See: Josh Kennedy (2007).

We signed him up for three years in July, 2007 ... only to trade him out West for Judd three months later.

Player would have to agree with it because they would be under contract

Of course the player has to agree to the trade if under contract, just that if they've been signed during the same year I'm pretty sure the rule (the 'Heffernan' clause or something like that?) states the player has to request a trade rather than simply agree to it

EDIT - beat me to it tigs

Just throwing up a suggestion on what we might be looking at doing. Batch was the first name that came to mind.

There might be that rule but I can't see a need for it. If clubs where interested they would simply ask the player to request it. Sounds like semantics really because the key is player agreement!

Like a ninja here. :D

I agree but pick 12 is too important for us one of Acres/Dunstan/Sheeds/Salem/Lennon/KK/Bont etc.. to good an opportunity to ignore.

However I am not against trading a player to Brisbane for Longer and Docherty but not one of our young guns!! Obviously, our elite guns can't be traded because they carry too much currency. Longer knows MAric and Hampson will not be around forever either and apart from TV don't have a young ruckman. Wouldn't be against trading Houli , get a pick and send to Brisbane

With loss of players and weaken draft Brisbane be looking for players to fill the void to!!
Trade Houli and $15k in membership revenue walks out the door as well. ;)
