Bombers have taken a punt taking two senior spots on their list on blokes that could be the next Josh Toy and Richard Tambling. Highly touted juniors that showed little on the park at AFL level. Speculative picks at best.
Can't wait for this trade period to be over.

Before people jump down my throat and say that we're bending the other sides over in that deal let me explain my thinking. Polec and Longer were both top 10 picks in the last 3 years, the Lions deserve to get something back in return for losing them. Saints and Port seem reluctant to give up true value for either of them so instead of taking unders for them a bit of a game of pass the parcel is played.
Us swapping picks for Port makes them ontrading 12 to the Saints for 18 & 25 more appealing to the Saints. This allows Port to also give the Lions better than pick 34 for Polec which is unders and Port would still have a top 20 pick to get them a good kid in as well. The Saints with pick 19 would then trade 19 to the Lions for Longer and 29.
In the washup the Saints instead of having 3 18 & 19 would then have 3 12 & Longer, those 2 picks will get them quality kids. The Lions who are losing kids hand over fist but would end up with 7 19 25 28 & 32 for losing Longer Polec Docherty & Yeo. 5 picks inside 35 is a good way for Leppa to start rebuilding the Lions list. Port drop down 4 spots in the first round but get Polec in turn which is like getting a top 10 kid anyway. As for us we drop 2 spots in the first round and climb back into the second round instead of waiting until 50 for our second crack. All up I don't believe that anyone would lose from this type of wheeling and dealing.

Shaw isn't worth a first round pick. It is Shaws age etc.. not his ability that is his issue regarding value
Shaw may be a gun but the draftees look very solid up to a point covering most of the first round. I would take a first rounder before Shaw anyday of the week.
Adams saying not that good may mean he simply ends up good or better than average or average. Adams still may not prove a gun throughout his career but he has years on Shaw and the ability is there. Just because Adams may not be that good doesn't mean he is in the Dawes category
I would suggest that given they gave him a 5 year deal he is worth it imo.
Its the supercoach era of having to be seen to do something in the trade period irrespective if is any good or not. Dumb just dumb.

We would have to delist another player as steph is only a rookie and we still need to take 3 picks in the draft.

I agree but pick 12 is too important for us one of Acres/Dunstan/Sheeds/Salem/Lennon/KK/Bont etc.. to good an opportunity to ignore.
However I am not against trading a player to Brisbane for Longer and Docherty but not one of our young guns!! Obviously, our elite guns can't be traded because they carry too much currency. Longer knows MAric and Hampson will not be around forever either and apart from TV don't have a young ruckman. Wouldn't be against trading Houli , get a pick and send to Brisbane
With loss of players and weaken draft Brisbane be looking for players to fill the void to!!

He's pretty ordinary. Can hoof it a mile but he chooses to do that a lot. Doubt Brisbane are than worried about him leaving. Outside Longer they are all easily replaceable.
It's worth it for the bombers. If those list spots aren't taken by the two GWS kids they are taken by mid third and fourth round draft selections. They must see these two as a better chance of success.
Obviously our club sees more value in going to the draft with pick 50 and higher. Hard to see much quality coming from those picks.
Have you even considered that we might not rate Longer and Docherty all that highly, and that we want the young player we will get at pick 12 a lot more? Just because they're available does not make them highly valuable,
