We've got the capital for a Harley Reid offer, however his play is an absolute turn off at the minute. I feel like bringing him in would be a big swing for the fences that ultimately means we'd forfeit the last chance at having a crack at a draft before Tassie comes in.

But geez if it's the Harley Reid of last year...what a pickup he'd be and exactly what we need.

I couldn't be more on the fence with this one!
Im not totally against bringing HR into Richmond but would hate to give up #1 + #5 for him

Pick #1 + F2
would be Max

Agreed! The big elephant in the room though is, is he behaving like a petulant child because he just wants out of Perth? Or is that actually him.

It’s got to be the latter.

In S1 he was treated like a messiah over there. All you have to do is sing the same tune as the locals like Nic Nat and your laughing.

Quinton narkle available as unrestricted free agent … we’ve shown interest before

It is a really weak year for free agents, if I had to pick someone for us to target would probably be Jeremy Sharp or Wayne Milera

Milera is a really decent player, but has had big injuries and will be 28 at the start of next season.

Sharp really weak defensive and pressure numbers and we have guys around a similar level or better just a year or two behind him.

Don’t think our list profile is really set up for the free agent pool this year

Maybe one or two of the old vets for some experience but that’s debatable maybe Reilly O'Brien as some ruck insurance but that’s about it really

Free agents don't hurt your list as much as giving up picks for trade of a player. so you target the right players.
I don't see it as being a bad thing, if we fill a role of a good experienced player for the now.

Agree with all that but going through the list none of the younger names really stand out

We need all types of players but we also don’t really what we will need in 2 - 3 seasons time when we start to look at making a charge up the ladder

That’s when we should be using free agency to fill the gaps in our list that the draft hasn’t addressed in that time

The restricted frees I would say:

Starcevich - no offer, not an area of need, not a great player.

Dekoning - saints have offered the world, we should sit out, his 1 wood seems to be grabbing the ball and slamming it on his boot, doesn’t make the team better. No offer.

Worpel - average to decent 26yo mid. Can play good defensive roles on the explosive players Taranto and Hopper struggle with. Moderate offer, maybe $750k X 4 years if we thing we need another moderately talented mature mid.

Oscar Allen - good player, would be useful if Lynch retired, otherwise, no realistic offer as we have a lot of key position options.

Ed Richards - kitchen sink $1.3m+ for 6-7 years.

Unrestricted Frees:

Hewett - similar to Worpel, maybe worth $600k X 3-4 years.

Fahey - I don’t know enough about him but if any good his profile would be of interest, 22yo winger/half back who can kick. But he has been delisted and re-rookied by GWS and that suggests he is no better than prospects we already have.

Slim pickings really. I’d be pointing my cannons at Ed Richards big time. Line breaking half back with an aerial game or very decent penetrating mid with great disposal. We won’t get him but make whoever does get him pay up.

He's the only name that stood out to me if the UFAs, for us. Too old though. Can play.

Would love Richards but can’t see him moving

Rare for players to do sideways trades in the same city
Dogs will look after him

Good on him as well
He’s universally liked as a player for a reason

Especially to a bottom of the ladder team.

I just don’t get the thought process FA are gonna be picking us for next 1-2 years. Most guys are turning 27 after they’re eligible for FA, so they will primarily be looking for success straight away.

I think some will, but it’s definitely not the bigger names
Hawks managed to get a few even before they started to turn the tide last year like Amon in 2022

But it wasn’t until this latest trade period could they target the big dogs like Battle was last year

Gotta kinda look for the out of favour types or throw some extra money

I wonder what the Dogs cap is like, they have some guns, but most at the tail end or start.
