Do we start planning to pick over the corpse of Melbourne yet? I'd be okay with May or Salem on the cheap if they want one last crack at another flag
Lever and May would be my options

Straight Jones/Lobb replacements

The Rowell to Victoria stuff is very much linked to if Suns play finals

Dogs can get the capital to get both Butters and Rowell
But would require a lot of movement with future trading

Esp with Suns having some strong academy players over the next two drafts
Fascinated the see how we’d get the trade capital. Assuming it means trying to move Marra as we’d need multiple 1st for both Butters and Rowell.

If Dees play their cards right

They could get 9-12 picks over the next three drafts now that future trading has relaxed it's ruling
How? Most of their guys have no value.

Petracca is 2 first rounders at most and he’s nearly 30. Gawn & May are old and don’t hold that sort of currency. Oliver is a negative value and Salem is cooked.

The only way they get quality picks is trading away high end young talent like Pickett but all the sudden they’re looking at a North Melbourne scenario.

No chance we would get both.

Both guys will each cost at least our next two first rounders plus another quality pick that we would have to acquire.

Oliver, Pickett and Trac would easily be around 9 picks

Pickett would command two first rounders, Oliver if he keeps up his stats is two rounders
Trac is a legit star and people would pay overs

Plus late end picks swapping and moving up

I could see North having another crack at Viney as well

No way would Oliver be worth 2 first rounders when he is on a million a year until 2030, that's a terrible deal.

Viney has been rubbish this season and it's possible that the game may have passed him by, not sure him and Oliver in the same midfield works anymore. He has 3 years to go on his deal after this, he's almost negative value.

Pickett- 2 firsts
Oliver - 1 late first
Petracca - 1 decent first, or a late 1st and a second.

May, Salem et all are worth token late picks.

I can see Goodwin going and them trading all 3 big names.

I wouldn't pay high draft picks for any of the Melbourne players mentioned above. I think they're all on the downward curve. Overpriced and now over-rated. The only one I'd be interested in is Lever who would be handy for us for a few years as an intercepting half back but he's still contracted til 2028 so not likely going anywhere.
