Growing up when it first got taught at school I remember thinking how did the German public ever fall for what Hitler was saying. Now in real time I’m watching such a large part of the US population and others online around the world genuinely believe Ukraine are the bad guys and Russia the hero’s in this conflict, and it wasn’t even that difficult to do.

As much as I dislike him Trump bringing Musk right into his inner circle and using Twitter to manipulate the narrative his way was a great political move. Unfortunately and predictably it’s also potentially a very dangerous one.

My god the ****ers at CBA are arrogant.

Still haven't got our $9500 back, probably will be early next week. The compo offer is 1k for the shitshow of inconvenience this has caused having no money to live off. We've missed mortgage payments, missed all sorts of obligations. All because CBA's security is farcical.

Apparently, we are partially at fault because we weren't checking our netbank at 2.30am in the morning to reject what were clearly fraudulent transactions originating from Canada to say "is this you making transactions" - even though international transactions were disabled!!

I said to the clown on the phone - how would the CBA like it if someone involuntarily removed most of the money in their accounts through no fault of their own (billions) and said stiff shit you'll need to wait up until 21 days to get it back?

Then they had the gall to say we pride ourselves on card security etc etc!! It became clear to me that I was dealing with someone whos job it was to minimise the liability of the bank, and place blame on the consumer. Not actually resolve our dispute.

Taking it straight to AFCA now, let them deal with these clowns. They have to abide by AFCA's ruling. Pretty confident when AFCA has all the facts they will slam CBA for more than a measly 1k compensation. Might even go further up to the ombudsman if they were really negligent and that could amount to a fine based on the value of their negligence (in our case $9500, so many multiples of that).

Certainly getting rid of them once this is all settled. Pretty much whole family are CBA customers too, I had a dolormite account opened as a kid etc.

Any big organisation is the same unfortunately. You are never going to get to talk to someone that can actually solve your problem without escalating it to an ombudsman. I got screwed over by Telstra. Another customer had the same name as me and they added their phone contract to my bill. I got it cancelled. The remainder of the plan that was cancelled of $2,500 was added to my account. Then the other guy rang them up and reinstated it to my bill. I rang up and got it cancelled again. $5,000 now on my Telstra account. Went back and forth with them for 3 months over it. Gave up, sent it to the ombudsman, a guy called me from higher up at Telstra and fixed it in 5 minutes. campaigners, the lot of them.

AFCA is effectively the financial ombudsman these days. They have some clout but a case with them can take a while. They don't have the authority to issue fines.

CBA will have a team that deal with AFCA complaints and you might find that's enough to expedite your issues. But I wouldn't be too hopeful about being entitled to a large amount of compensation for your inconvenience. AFCA will be looking at financial losses.

Another tactic you could use is a personal letter to the CBA CEO. He won't read it but many companies have a high level complaints team.

I spent half an hour trying to cast the United v Arse game to my TV before giving up and watching it on my phone. Now I read that Google have ****ed up and it's a global issue for users of early Chromecast devices.

Apart from a few buffering issues Chromecast has been good.

But for a huge company Google's regression testing of whatever they changed must have been shithouse. You wonder if they did it on purpose to force everyone onto their new technology. They have no accountable customer interface that responds to such issues. So many websites are intertwined with Google for revenue that they might be reluctant to be critical.
