I'm with CBA.

Had my card skimmed years ago and they drained my pay just after it had gone in (was being paid monthly at the time). They bought a hotel, train ticket and prostitute, all in Canada.

CBA had the funds back in my account the day after thank goodness.
Sure it was the "Canadians"

I have been scammed a couple of times in the past. Both times happened when I was asleep and both times as soon as I checked my phone in the morning, CBA had sent a text message telling me that they noticed the fraudulent transactions on my account and they closed that credit card account, issued a new card and the funds were put back into my account. Super impressed.

Although, I guess that sometimes they are so on the ball and suspicious of everything that even your own transactions can look scammy to them lol. Because once I sent a moneygram to Greece and within half an hour I got a text questioning the transaction and then a phone call. I told the rep that yes I had in fact made that transaction, but I guess the rep thought I was being held under duress and forced to say that, because next thing I know my credit card and netbank account had both been suspended because of a fraudulent transaction and the only way to fix it was to head into a branch. A bit of an inconvenience.

My Wise card got declined a few times when I travelled to a different city in the US. Made for some awkward situations when there was a line behind me waiting

As I said to the guy at the time, if I wanted to get laid I'd probably organise one on this side of the world... :tearsofjoy:

Ok. I know this is reddit but it appears CBA are absolute shockers for random number generation attacks, they consistently allow overseas transactions to proceed despite the fact that even a basic AI should be able to pick up it is a bs transaction:

First one was for the exact amount we were hit for.

You'll notice this happens to people who don't use their card online etc.

I would have thought a bank of CBA's size would decline the transaction made on our account in Canada fo $2250 of perfume based off the fact the card had only just been used in Australia hours before.

I would advise anyone who banks with CBA to look into this. Being safe online won't protect you here. We still haven't got our money back (it is coming) but have now missed a mortgage payment, rates payment. When I explained to our mortgage provider they weren't exactly sympathetic either.

Once this is resolved I'm done with CBA.

I suppose they are acting in your best interest and might get in trouble if they don't act on what looks to be a scam.

When I was last in the UK I lost my wallet so suspended my cards. Very fortunately, I got the wallet back but it was mare to get the credit card re-instated. An Uber driver had double charged me for the ride and also a fee for me calling him and getting him to look round his car for the wallet! I spent an hour on the phone convincing the bank staff that the card was no longer missing and to cancel the duplicate charges.

Definitely mate. I had no problem with it, just getting to the branch to let them know to re-activate my Netbank account (couldn’t do that over the phone) was a bit of running around. But no big deal, the rep did their job right.

You should contact the media. Reckon they'd be interested

CBA may be offering compo (over and above transaction reversal). I threatened AFCA action and they got back to me pretty quickly.

Guess they are better off paying us out instead of copping a fine from the ombudsman.

Nothing can change the waiting period for reversal though. Imagine if you missed out on a house purchase because CBA let someone take your deposit etc.

I just find it highly suspicious that they were able to get in there on the fee days when the mortgage hadn't been debited plus regular offset transfers & regular debits.

We keep no more than 1k normally for day to day stuff.

Sounds like an inside job. I meant media not from you getting payment back faster but just from people would be interested if it’s that’s common.

It is very A Current Affair.

It is. I am in discussions with them now though for compo and they may end up forgoing our credit card balance of $7k if we sign a NDA.

That's a huge win.

But you should push for more/extra.

Reduced interest rate on the house or you go to the media.
