The only positive of Steele being out is we might get to see Hug(e)h Boxshall, the man who staunched Cripps!

Boxshall would be the logical replacement for Steele with him being the only other midfielder that was added to our squad.

From what I saw of him in the practice games I don't think he would have too much trouble stepping up to the level required. .

Seriously nervous with Steele out. Their midfield destroyed us in the practice match. They are all big bodied.

I would be considering Sinclair in there a lot this weekend. Usually I prefer him at half back but I think we may need a bit more experience and size.
Keeler can leap over the top of their second ruck and palm it to Macrea who will hit Sharman lace out and the rest will be history🥰

Steele out is a big hit to our chances of winning a tough fixture game, which was going to be hard regardless.

Good to see King out there today but didn’t get anywhere near it from what I saw. Doug has put on weight but that’s just my guess. Running along well enough.

Tauru certainly flies well and took a couple of good ones. Got Wood strongly in a tackle. I don’t think the speed of the game will be any issue for him one iota.

Henry out there but still rusty. Saw McLennan zip in after centre bounce off half back, scoop the ball in heavy traffic, and run forward into space to hit someone up. Reminded me of what Sincs can do. Something to work with there.

Caminiti down back then switched forward. Wilson showed good run with the ball. Ari with hard hands but getting to the fall of the ball. I think he reads it well.

Everyone extremely vocal. All coaches out there in the middle of everything. Some of the Sandy boys were good. Little guy with decent left foot. Blonde medium tall calm under pressure (reminds me of Kelleher, Liverpool’s second goalie). And tall skinny guy brown locks was useful marking/distributing down back.

I heard the instruction shouted NOW SHUFFLE from Jonesy, referring to back players, locked in a format, to transition same format to the other side, double time. Was impressive.

Blonde guy was Jonah (Joey), he has trained a fair bit with us. Doesn't look completely out of place, awkward kicking action though.

Tall skinny guy was Lachlan Voss. Today especially he was super clean below his knees and by foot. If he puts on some bulk and continues to improve, he could absolutely be an AFL footballer.

Sinclair's the third shortest guy on our list and not particularly big bodied. Agree on experience but he doesn't bring size.

Personally I reckon he's an average midfielder and a dominant half back. Don't know if we can win the midfield but I think we're actually behind overall if we push him in there.

Yep would be a terrible move.

Between Stocker, Garcia and Jones we can try and make do.

I got that too. How hard is that job?

So who takes Steele's place finally? Shoemaker? Who's the 3rd emergency then?

Or is Steele still playing?
Steele didn’t play last week. Arie took his place in the squad.

Gees its going to be a tough ask without Steele against the Port midfield.

That is one of the reasons I would have liked to have seen Boxshall get a run, to help bolster our midfield with Steele out again.

We were able to cope OK without Steele against Richmond last week but Port's midfield is going to be a much tougher test for us.

I don't think it's about application or consistency, I think it's more about Ross knowing he is a quiet somewhat shy kid away from home. He's acting almost like a father figure with metaphorical warm hugs.

A sign of a good coach is knowing what makes his players tick and from all reports Lyon is a master at that.
Yes agree it will be this aspect too. Making Collard comfortable to excel on the big state.

SEN’s Connor Scanlon should have read The Palantine Report before tipping St Kilda.

Scanlon writes,
St Kilda, meanwhile, are also undermanned, with Max King, Dougal Howard, Mattaes Phillipou, Paddy Dow and Hunter Clark sidelined. However, captain Jack Steele who was a late out last week due to a knee injury, is potentially available for selection, alongside Dan Butler, Liam Stocker and Liam Henry.

Scratch Steele, Scratch Henry, Butler?

Scanlon also mentions our vulnerabilities down back against a tall forward line when one of our fast attacks is broken and the play switches after a turnover.

And our stellar record in Adelaide. (The worst in the league except North, who have never won, like never, ever won there)

At least the AFL is kind enough to fixture us there a lot. (To help us practice and build up resilience) Top three in the league.

I agree but then thought maybe we’ve brought Stocker in to go to Wines??

Does this (see image) mean Zac Jones will be a co-captain with Wilkie? Is that because all other players in the leadership group are injured?

That's where we're at.
