To be fair that's no knock on him, speaks loudly of the top performance of other players

Yes and no. He's been the bedrock of the side and overlooked. He's a quiet achiever but he was immense for four quarters. Nas and Sincs both got votes. Both were very good but it wasn't even top shelf for them. Windy got votes which was a great acknowledgement of his incredible role at least.

Unbelievable. It had the potential to cause serious injury.
No question this is a ban if the offending player was a rando like Knevitt or Clohesy

As I said after the Adelaide game, let’s re-access after 4-5 games.

I get we are all passionate, all want saints to do well, but talk of the 2025 picks 1-4, the sky is falling was not sensible last week..

More measured comments would be appreciated 🤣

Ps - watching the replay - excited about Hall and LOC
Hall - one grab player, and ripper skills!
LOC - made of the right stuff - practice game against Carlton got cleaned up, got hit last week, last night and that ripper mark! He is also a good size with speed and endurance!

Max King, Cooper Sharman, Liam Henry, Mattaes Phillipou, 2x top 10 picks, and more to return to this St Kilda side

Early days of 2025 we are seeing rapid improvement in the depth of this squad as competition improves

I had already given up on this season with the way we played last week. But this performance has completely flipped the switch - we are genuinely on the rise...and fast

Crazy what a bit of effort can do for a side

If we can beat Richmond and find a way against Port or GWS then injecting Pou & Tauru in the back half of the year is going to be bloody exciting.

I genuinely feel that Tauru can be a needle mover straight up

Great job Saints! So, so happy for Jack Macrae, quality human, quality player.
Haven’t heard one bad word about him from the Dogs supporters. Shows how high stead they hold him still. Classsy from you mob.

I’m not going to say who it was.

But pre game yesterday. A very prominent person at the club called him a bigger talent than both Pou & King.

How’s that for a wrap on Tauru.

Said it last year but Hammer reminds me a lot of Balta. He's obviously not got the class of Battle but with his height and pace he might offer something different to Josh going forward. He was on Neale who is one of the better upcoming talks in the comp. Really excited to see how he can build on this game, he won't always be perfect but he has a future as a backman in my opinion and if he can perform at that level consistently he could significantly shift our future prospects.

They answered in the best way possible. We really needed to stand up. A night with ex players in, a big crowd at home. Under Richo and Ratts these were the ones we'd find a way to not turn up. That was a massive step forward. If we can push Richmond aside next week go in heads and confidence up. We were a Nas game-saving toe-poke off a demoralising loss. Instead we fill the sails and hit the season in a different headspace. Tigers hopefully a bit of an easier match.

We have to get through 5 x 50/50 matches after that. Need to try to come through that with at least a couple of wins and then we should look closer to full strength and settled. Hit the second half of the year with some momentum.

Last 10 games:

W +2 swans
L -32 crows SA
W +72 wce
W +53 ess
L -85 lions
W +48 rich
W +18 cats
W +2 blues
L -63 crows SA
W +7 cats

We haven’t hosted the crows at marvel since r6 2019.
And Carlton have won 2 of their last 11 matches. Those 2 wins were 2024 WCE and NM.

Happy for us to keep plugging away and developing under the radar,

Stocker and Clark were both major factors in the first half. Will be big losses next week, hopefully Clark pulls up ok today and Stocker gets over his concussion quickly.
Watched Hunter closely last night. It's amazing how often he had an impact on a clearance even though he doesn't get the actual stat.

Totally agree, it was a massive win for the club. Just had to get it done at the end and we did. Very nice crowd and hopefully more fans turn up if we can keep producing.

This time last year we were 1-1 coming off a huge win against the Pies. Then the Essendon game happened.

Have to get it done next week, don't care how but get the W and keep building.

I’m not sure if anyone got the chance too.

But I got into the car post game. Chucked on triple M.

Interviewing Rooey in the rooms.

Apparently Ross demanded the barriers get moved so they could celebrate with the young boys.

Then Rooey came clean that he and Joey had a half time exit plan as they thought it would be ugly 😂 😂

Coming into round 1, I thought 2-5 and a percentage of 85 after 7 would've been a reasonable start, and then build into 9-11 wins for the season.

10-13 would be 8-8 after 2-5 start.

Ultimately there will be ups and downs, but I thought that was a fair expectation.

What I didn't anticipate was the value Macrae would add. If he keeps playing anything like this, and the team has a good injury run, with some improvement from the younger crew, then beating my estimate and getting 12 or 13 wins- even sneaking into the 8- is possible.

But it's early days and "anything could happen". There's always lots of "ifs", that's the nature of predictions. I'll stick with 9-11 wins for now.

He's got exceptional talent no doubt. That only gets you so far. His ceiling is unlimited, we need to keep him fit and maximise it. His highlight reels make him look unbelievable, looks like Trevor Barker or prime Jeremy Howe.
